Yibai gestured dismissively and found a stone stump to help the old man sit down on.
"Elder, where are you from? How did you end up deep in the mountains?"
Yibai asked.
The place he was in was deep within the mountains; this area was fraught with tigers, leopards, jackals, and wolves.
"Sir, I'm from the village at the foot of the mountain on the right. I'm a woodcutter, how could I not go up the mountain?"
The old man sat on the stone stump, laughing as he spoke.
"Turns out the elder is a woodcutter, but at your age, how can you still climb the mountain? Do you have any children? Let them take over the task."
Yibai shook his head as he spoke.
Woodcutters who work in the mountains year-round can usually discern and escape from the common predators such as tigers, leopards, jackals, and wolves with ease.
But an elderly woodcutter, if he encountered such beasts, would truly be in mortal peril.
