All I could see amid the blazing flames was a vague outline of a person crashing around inside, accompanied by pitiful screams. Judging by the looks of it, they wouldn't last much longer before being burned to death.
Immediately I glanced around and noticed that the ghost was nowhere to be found. Logically, it couldn't still be in the room, as the intense fire would have burned it as well. Even though it was in a soul state, ghostly entities, after a period of cultivation, can become immune to mortal fires. Perhaps the woman in white could survive the inferno unscathed, but this was just my speculation.
Not long after, the tragic screams inside the house abruptly ceased—it appeared that the man had been killed. Alas, truly a case of reaping what one sows.
