I had a dream.
In the dream, there was no filth, no shrines, no shrine maidens.
I lived in a city filled with skyscrapers, leading a common life, needing to go to a place called "school" to receive an education, enjoying a life of fun-filled monotony that cycled week after week with my friends.
In that world, I didn't have to face monsters, didn't have to get involved in those conflicts, didn't have to suffer the pollution from the world.
But at that moment, a voice echoed in my ear.
"You are Amber, the strongest shrine maiden of this age, you must become the Chief Priestess for the sake of the world's people, only you can save them."
The voice was a mix of old, young, childish, sighing, expectant, and helpless sentiments.
The voice came from family, from mentors, and also from within myself.
Since childhood, I had used this reason to tell myself to persevere.
