When Jiang Haoyang and Liu Bing asked Ren He what kind of deal he wanted to make, Ren He pulled them aside privately and whispered the details. Liu Bing was astonished, "Just this?"
"Yes, just this," Ren He confirmed. He certainly wasn't about to spill the entire plan. He nearly broke into tears with emotional appeal and reasoned explanations, all to get these two guys to fuel the fire for him.
Jiang Haoyang and Liu Bing always felt that something was amiss, but they didn't want to give up the chance for a brilliant comic dialogue, and the condition proposed by Ren He seemed like a trivial effort for them.
It wouldn't really require any actual sacrifice!
So, the two took the crosstalk script Ren He had written for them and set out to contact former classmates to help Ren He complete the task. When it mattered, they proved to be reliable, even reaching out to some of their own upperclassmen they knew.
