Winter had arrived.
The temperature at night had already fallen below zero.
The northwest wind was particularly biting, like a blade that scraped against the skin, causing a raw ache.
A villa neighborhood.
The night was quiet, only streetlights were on. Occasionally, a few patrol staff from the community, holding flashlights, crossed the road ensuring the safety of the precious homeowners.
The uniformed security guard tucked the flashlight into his armpit, rubbed his hands together, and then touched his ears, his hands and feet aching from the cold.
He sniffled.
"The weather changes too quickly."
It wasn't this cold a couple of days ago, but today the temperature suddenly dropped, marking the official arrival of winter.
All he wanted now was to finish his patrol quickly and return to warm up. Someone else was due to take over the second half of the night shift.
