The man looked up at her, gently caressing her chin with the pad of his finger.
His voice was light, "Scared."
He had yearned for this girl for ten years, gone to great lengths to have her, and he wished to keep her by his side at all times. How could he not be afraid?
He was afraid that she wouldn't like him enough, afraid she wasn't as happy with him, afraid she might give up on him at any time.
He couldn't muster any confidence in front of her.
But…he looked into her eyes and said, "Before we get married, you have the right and the choice."

"I would die."
