Deep into the night.
All was quiet.
The cool late-night breeze swished by, whisking off the parched fallen leaves on the ground.
The headlights from a distant car grew closer, slid between two rows of plane trees, and finally parked before a remote, pitch-dark gate.
A man got out of the car, swiftly moved to the passenger seat, and carefully carried out a girl who was already unconscious. The dark gate before him opened and Bo Wen appeared at the entrance.
He frowned at the sight of the girl in his arms.
"What happened?"
Fu Chi kept moving without a pause.
"They pulled her out of the lab."
His voice was void of warmth.
Understanding Fu Chi, Bo Wen didn't ask any more questions. He briskly walked to a door up ahead, entered a password and the door opened, revealing a staircase leading underground.
Fu Chi carried Jiang Ruan downstairs.
They walked through a lengthy corridor and finally reached the entrance to the lab.
After a retinal scan, the door before them opened.
