Old Ge didn't want to follow them at first, fearing he would be deceived and refusing to become a servant; however, the recent ordeal made him realize that with his own abilities, if someone came after them again, he would be powerless to protect his grandson. He would regret it too late. Thus, he decided to sell himself into servitude, trusting that the skills of the two young masters could at least leave a way out for his grandson.
His family owned three run-down rooms and two acres of land, which he entrusted to his cousin. It was thanks to the cousin's help through the years that his family, both old and young, had managed to survive.
