After Sir Wu spoke on behalf of the Eldest Princess, the performance commenced with Pan Zi'an, the most renowned national idol and talented man of the Great Qian Kingdom, playing the flute in the snow. The piece he played was "Three Variations on the Plum Blossom."
Prince Consort Pan, holding the Jade Flute and clad in a Purple Embroidered Satin Robe, stood in the center of the courtyard. He began by reciting aloud, "First Variation, it teases the refreshing breeze; second, it dances with the flying snow; third, it casts light and shadow; fragrance lingers in the air, waters run clear..."
As he placed the flute to his lips and the first note sounded, the world hushed, as if even the falling snow stilled. Everyone, all the surrounding scenery, became serene amidst the beautiful melody.
Such beauty, it could even apply to this man.
