Qian Yixiu turned back and nodded at her, signaling that she was fine and asking her to follow Liang Gao's arrangements.
Entering the room and passing by the four-panel screen decorated with plum, orchid, bamboo, and chrysanthemum, she faced two semi-circular carved window lattices, with a red lacquered wooden floor beneath her feet. There were two Western Region carpets on either side of the room, with a black lacquered, gold traced low table in front of them, and on each side of this were taller tables, each holding a Lotus Liuli Palace Lamp. There were calligraphies and paintings hung on the walls, a Duobao Pavilion shelf on the left, and a long table on the right with an ancient zither on it, alongside two pots of blooming orchids in a corner. The arrangement was elegant and comfortable, setting a very different tone.
