Finally, on a day of rest, Feng Bo returned from the county town, carrying pastries and local snacks he bought there, and a few strings of candied hawthorn. He didn't go home but got off directly in Taiping Town and went to Pei Qin's house with the goodies.
Pei Qin was not at home, she had gone to the workshop.
Feng Bo had no choice but to leave the things at her house and go to the workshop to find her.
Pei Qin pinched a handful of sweet potato leaves and stems, strolled around and, just as she returned to the outskirts of town, bumped into Feng Bo, "Is something the matter?"
Feng Bo glanced at the fish-shaped hairpin in her hair and took out a shiny Silver Step Shake, "This, I want to give it to cousin!"
Seeing his ears turn red with a bashful face, Pei Qin was taken aback. The act of giving hairpins by ancient customs differed from theirs! Looking at Feng Bo, she asked, "Is this a confession?"
