On the way home, Fu Yanlin felt troubled.
He lit a cigarette, rolled down the car window, and let the wind fan his smoke.
As the car glided into the tunnel, light flickered rapidly across his face, half shrouded in shadows, half cold and stern.
Just then, Xun Rangchu called him.
Fu Yanlin picked up, his tone heavy, "Hello."
Xun Rangchu asked, "Where are you? How could you not be at this gathering today?"
Fu Yanlin responded defiantly, "You were hoping for a spectacle, I'm afraid I've disappointed you."
"Am I obviously gloating?" Xun Rangchu laughed, "You're my brother. How could I miss your battlefield?"
Fu Yanlin was in no mood to banter with him. Just when he was about to hang up, Xun Rangchu added, "I just saw your Uncle Fu Zhou invite the Xu family upstairs."
Fu Yanlin merely grunted in response.
