The plans for coffee and cake ultimately fell through.
On the way to the cafe, Lin Yuanzhi received a call and apologized to her, saying there was some business at his company and he had to rush back.
Before leaving, Lin Yuanzhi looked back at Wen Sheng under the neon lights in the evening wind, "Yvonne, will we meet again?"
Wen Sheng flashed a smile, "Of course."
"I'm looking forward to it." Lin Yuanzhi returned a smile and then left.
Wen Sheng didn't mind his abrupt departure - in fact, she was relieved deep down.
She was okay with being friends with Lin Yuanzhi, but the idea of this being a blind date made her realize she was unprepared. Her slow-to-warm persona had been with her for years and was a tough habit to break. Lin Yuanzhi seemed nice enough, but for now, that "nice enough" wasn't enough to capture Wen Sheng's heart.
She looked at the bag in her hand and the new shoes on her feet, suddenly reminded of someone.
