Chapter 11 - The Berserker

Argam kicked Tenel into the air, then he flew up.

SUMMON

A transparent Berserker with six wings appeared behind Argam. Half of its face was covered with a shield, and only its grin could be seen. Its upper muscular body was naked.

Boom! The ten-meter-tall berserker struck Tenel to the ground.

SYNC

The berserker turned into light and combined with Argam. He became a five meter tall berserker.

An arm made up of soil held Tenel and lifted him into the air.

Argam raised his arms and held them together.

Boom! Tenel was blown to the ground.

More light energy gathered into Argam's hand, then he struck Tenel in the ground. He was laughing as he kept punching.

Huge roots suddenly came out of the ground and tied Argam's hands, then a thick, dark root swung and hit his body.

Red fog covered Tenel's body, then he transformed into a five-meter-tall demon. His whole body was like made up of roots. He floated as he stared at Argam. He noticed the exonns that were moving toward them. He chuckled and said,"If you fall into my hands, you will not have an easy death."

Tenel flew away. His giant form turned into a red fog and entered his body.

Argam also removed his giant form and chased the demon."Tenel! Let me plant you here! You fit staying in this ruin forever!"

Tenel was furious. He stared at Argam and thought,"When the right time comes, I will bury you with your family as fertilizer."

Rhys wiped the blood from his mouth. He looked at the magic beast that flew toward the pillars. The penguin had two wings behind its back.

Harty was picking up the bloodstones. "Are you curious why I'm taking it? I'm not a demon, so don't attack me. The bloodstones are useless to me, but they are used as a power source to the Dark Towers. The towers are creating the hell pit. Every world connected to Earth has it. I can sell the bloodstones to the association."

Harty even took the white crystal, then he floated in the air as he looked at Rhys. He nodded his head and said,"You are lucky to survive. Tenel is one of the black thrones."

Argam came back while laughing. "It should not only be luck. The report said that there were three demons, including a tier two, but they should belong to the ashes that I saw on the ground."

"Did he escape?" asked Harty.

"Yeah, I could no longer sense him. Those demons are sly. They probably prepared their escape route," said Argam, then he looked at Rhys. "You are a courageous kid. You even manage to kill Tier 2. What family do you belong to?"

"Creed Family."

"Creed?" Argam touched his chin. "I can't remember a family name like that."

Rhys smiled. "I'm just from an ordinary family."

"What?!"

Oliver flew toward them. "We can't sense a demon in the ruin, and something happened to the truck."

They flew to the site and looked at the burning truck.

"The two men inside are dead," said Oliver.

"There really is an insider," thought Rhys as his face was turning more serious. Then he looked at Argam.

"Can he be trusted? I should talk with Philipp first. He's been a member of the association for a long time. Can I anonymously send the information to the association?" asked Rhys in his mind.

A few moments later, Rhys, the penguin, and Argam were on top of the tallest building as they watched the scene in the ruin.

"I feel like I'm already in post-civilization," said Argam while staring at the huge plants and vines.

Golden lights were gathering on Harty's hands, then he let the golden ball float. The rooftop was lit, then he cleaned the floor and sat."It will be if the demon wins in your world."

"Don't you care?! Do you think you can still watch a movie and play video games all day if our world is conquered?!"

"Y-Your right," said Harty as he wiped the sweat that formed on his head. He could not imagine a life without them. "Movies and video games after an adventure is life."

Argam sneered at the penguin, then he looked at Rhys and asked,"How did you find them?"

"Someone reported to me the suspicious behavior of the apartment owner."

"What are their names?"

"Felix Burton and Henry Age."

Argam raised his watch."Connect me to the association. Ask for permission to access the files of Mugwer City's residents."

A projection appeared over the watch."Good evening, Sir Argam. I'm Cecil from a regional database. I received a request from the association that you want to access information."

"Yeah, it is connected to a recent incident about demons. They should have given you a go signal, right?"

"Yes, sir. I just want to confirm it. I had already given you permission, sir. If you want to access more confidential information, you will need a higher permission."

"I understand. Thank you," said Argam, then he searched for Felix and Henry and the people related to them. "Hmm, it looks normal to me."

Harty chuckled. "It looks normal because you are not looking at what is hidden below it."

Rhys smiled when he heard the penguin.

"Look at the kid. He smiles because he understands. If not for me, you would have died a long time ago."

Argam looked angry."If not for me, you would have starved long ago!"

"Hey, I was born in the wrong world. I could not use my talent in that world."

"Do you mean your bluffing skill?"

"What bluff?! I'm referring to my head!"

Rhys chuckled as the two argued with each other.

Argam asked a few more questions, then he allowed Rhys to go back home.

"What do you think about him?" asked Argam.

Harty smiled."He slain a Tier 2 demon on his own. That proved his capability, and he does not look like a dumb kid. You should take care of him. Who knows? He might become critical to your world."
