In the morning, Rhys went to the Exonn Association branch. The building was like an arena.
He went inside and registered.
A woman named Mary assisted Rhys."Here is your digital watch and phone. Don't worry, the association will not access it without your permission. If we could do it, so are the secret underlings of the demon, which is very dangerous. Anyone who is caught doing it will be severely punished. We already put credit in your account.
There is a manual inside for instructions and other important information. Keep in mind that there is information there that cannot be publicized. An app is also installed where you can buy magic skills and order what you need. When you got the treasure, knowledge on magic should have been injected into your mind, right?"
Rhys nodded his head.
"Everytime you reach a stage, more knowledge and skills will appear in your mind. It's probably heaven's gate protection. If a lot of knowledge appears in your mind at once, it will severely damage your brain. When you are Tier 1, you should buy Tier 1 skills first. Don't buy Tier 2 because you don't know what skills you will learn when you have a breakthrough. What you bought might become useless when you reach the next stage. Follow me, I will tour you around the association."
They went near a stage. There were two exonns who were fighting. Fire and water magic were clashing with each other in the air causing a steam to appear on the stage.
"You can practice with other exonns here," said Mary, then she pointed her finger. "Over there, you can have a target practice."
A girl was holding a magic bow. She pulled the string as fire energy was gathering and forming into an arrow.
Mary led Rhys to another place. They were watching a huge screen. An exonn was standing on a sea while facing a monster that looked like a huge jelly fish. The monster's tentacles had sharp teeth.
"The training facility is free to use, but there are others that require credit to use, like that simulation room. The glasses that projected the simulations are made up of special materials from other world. They had to be regularly replaced because they will stop working over time. The simulated environment and enemies in this branch are few compared to the simulation room in central city. In virtual reality, you cannot control your body exactly like you what you are doing in the real world. Our technology in VR is not that develop yet, but it still had uses. We also have a room dedicated for advance VR which is free to use."
Mary showed the other places in the branch, then they went to a shop."Every new exonn will receive light stones. It will only be free in the beginning. If you want more, you need to buy them using credit. The assessment for new exonns will begin next week. You need to return here next Monday. The assessment will be done in the central city, Mageaf. You and the others will be picked up here. Do you have other questions?"
"No, thanks a lot for guiding me," said Rhys.
"If you have questions later, you can chat with our support service. You can even chat with them when your lonely," said Mary with a giggle before she left.
Rhys only gave a smile. He looked around the shop, and bought a small knife. He went outside the building, then flew into the air."Turn on the projection."
A projection appeared over the watch.
"Safe route for the nearest tier 1 hunting zone."
A route appeared on the projection. His location was a blinking red dot. Rhys quickly flew and reached the hunting zone. There were giant trees. They were as tall as twenty meters. The plants were five to ten meters high, and the weeds were one to two meters tall.
Rhys moved down and stood on top of a big rock. He was silent as he observed.
Whoosh! A beast suddenly attacked behind him, but he jumped up as a light spear was forming on his hand.
SPEAR BOOST
Boom! The beast was hit. It crashed and rolled to the ground.
Rhys attacked again. He stabbed, but the beast dodged his attack.
Fire was gathering at the beast mouth. It ran toward Rhys and attacked with fire.
Rhys jumped up as he raised his spear above his head.
Boom! The beast's head was stabbed and rammed to the ground.
Rhys stared at the dead beast. It was one and a half meters tall and almost three meters long. It looked like a hyena, but its skin was orange, and it had black stripes like a tiger. It was called Visrag.
He raised his hand. Golden lights were gathering over the wound of the Visrag. He tried to close the wound with healing magic, but it was not working. "It really is true. Healing will not work on dead beings because their cells will no longer respond."
A light energy covered the whole beast and lifted it. Rhys flew away while lifting the beast with light magic. He put the beast on the ground, then he stared at a huge stone. He could not lift the beast to a nearby camp because his light energy would not last that long.
Schwing! Rhys swung his spear and cut a stone into two pieces. He put the beast on the flat stone. He drew the knife that he bought from the association and stared at the beast. "Let's do this."
Phew! Rhys wiped the sweat off his face after several hours."It's a mess."
He practiced deboning and cutting for many years in the trial, but deboning and cutting a magic beast was different. There was no magic beast in the trial. Although they will experience different lives, there was no magic in those illusions, even if there was an ancient setting like a kingdom.
After a few moments, Rhys was flying in the air while his hand was holding a huge leaf tied with a vine. "I should hunt a beast that could be eaten by the kids later. The meat of this beast is unpalatable, but I could exchange the materials with money and buy the palatable meat of a magic beast."
A smile appeared on his face. "We could not even afford it before."
He flew to a camp and exchanged the materials for money. He went out of a building and stared at the many zeros on his wristwatch and thought, "It really is so easy for exonns to make money. I have to work a long time just to have the money I earn today. I should try and learn smithing magic weapons from Hansel.
I smithed weapons for many years in the illusion. Although they are not magic weapons, there should be a lot of familiarity in the process, so it should be easier for me to learn. If Hansel can't teach me, I will just buy the information from the association. I will sell the weapons online and let Ana and Gil manage them, so they can stay in the park and no longer need to frequently go out. I hope I can make the soul weapon that best fits me."
