Chapter 19 - Matches

The new exonns had been given a break. Some went to a quiet place and absorbed energy from light stones, while the others went to a cafeteria or training facility.

"Hahahaha! I never thought that I would find something fun here," said Brielle.

Aria had a helpless smile. "If you participate in the assessment in your region, then you will not be lacking any fun."

Brielle held Aria's arm. "Aunt had been giving me food and gifts that came from the world of Elron. Now that I became an exonn, I must do something for her even if she don't mention it. Hmpf! If someone bullies you in this assessment, I will put them in their right place!"

Egon, Rhys, and Samuel were walking together. Not too far from them, a young man wearing eyeglasses was staring at Egon's back.

"It would have been better if we were matched, so we could have known who is the strongest rookie in Vasteasia," said Egon.

Fu looked at the boy with disdain.

Egon noticed Fu's expression. "What? Do you have an opinion, rabbit?"

"Kid, don't embarrass yourself," said Fu.

"What did you say?! Do you want to turn into meat on a plate?!"

There was more disdain on the rabbit's face. "You can't even scratch me."

Egon became more angry.

Rhys chuckled and patted the boy's shoulder. "He just entered Earth. He was not able to adjust yet."

Meanwhile, Argam and Easton were standing on the second floor as they watched the training of exonns. The penguin was also watching while eating chips.

"If everyone is taught how to fight, then everyone will become a soldier," said Easton as he watched a new exonn who was struggling with sparring.

Argam chuckled. "Some lawmakers don't approve it. They said that a militaristic environment is not good for the mind. You know, entertainment is the reason why many beings from other worlds are visiting our world, which gives our world an income. We are still too poor compared to other worlds, and entertainment is effective in building relationships."

"There are gyms and even videos on the internet that teach free martial arts, but I think they are not enough. The population is concentrated in cities, making jobs competitive, so they don't have enough time to go to the gym or practice. It is rare for people like Rhys Creed to insist on his training for a long time. The media should be used well to develop the patriotism of earthlings, and martial arts should be mandatory in schools."

"Martial arts was mandatory in schools, but there were some troubles. They kept making adjustments, but I'm not sure what happened. There is still no final decision until now in the parliament, so martial arts are removed from student's curricula, but free gyms and videos of martial arts are adopted instead."

Easton sighed. "Although the world adopted federalism, politicians are still politicians."

In the afternoon, the matches started.

An old man with a bald head and white beard was facing a young man on the stage.

The young man named Fischer scratched his head. "Old man, you don't need to fight. We understand your situation."

The old man laughed. His name was Huber."Kid, don't let appearances fool you. I came to the stage to teach that lesson to young guys like you."

Fischer sighed as he drew his sword. Lightning crackled on his body, then he dashed and slashed his sword.

Huber swiftly turned around to his side as he drew his sword on his cane. The blade was moving toward Fischer's neck.

The young man blocked the attack with his sword, but he was blown away.

Huber stepped his foot and instantly appeared in front of Fischer.

The young man looked at the tip of the sword, pointing at his neck.

Schwing! Huber sheaths the sword on his cane. He chuckled and said,"I think my role is done here."

He left the stage with a master demeanor. The exonns looked at him with awe.

Fu was staring at Huber. "That old man looked a little more awesome than me."

Huber went to a cubicle in the restroom. He pulled up his robe, then rolled his pants. His eyes were teary as he endured the pain and healed his swelling ankles and knees.

The matches continued, then Aria was called to the stage.

"Sister, don't worry, I will watch closely," said Brielle as she stared at the elf's opponent with intimidating eyes.

Aria had a helpless smile as she walked to the stage.

"Her family is actually from the central region, but beings that have genes of beings from other worlds are deliberately shunned. Not just on Earth, but other worlds as well. Why? Well, world leaders in different worlds are afraid that halflings will rise in power. The halflings could be chess pieces that silently conquer their world in disguise.

It spread to the circle of beings in power in various worlds. It could be the demon's plan to create dissension, but it is undeniable that the possibility is there. Her family holds important positions in the government, so they have to distance themselves from Aria and her mother, Sefia," said Harty while sitting on an energy ball floating in the air.

"Where is her father?" asked Rhys.

"He is gone. He sacrificed himself to save Sefia and the others when they were ambushed."

Aria's opponent smiled. "Ms. Aria, your cousin sent his regards. I didn't want to accept it, but you should understand our situation. I need resources, and your cousin has them…"

Harty smiled as the man kept blabbering while Aria was already pointing her bow with an arrow made up of wind energy. "She only became an exonn yesterday. She has not able to adapt yet to her power, but it will be a mistake if you give her enough time to attack. She is a daughter of top archers."
