Ana is in a bit of a hurry, she says goodbye to her father and heads for Howard's car, Scoot tells the secretary that he'll need to use the car, the secretary hands him the keys, Ana is already waiting near the car, so much so that she's in a hurry, Scoot on the other hand decides to walk at a breakneck pace, seeing that Ana looks very distressed, and is trying to disguise it, but first opens the door for Ana to get in, then turns around and sits in the driver's seat, he makes Ana put on the safety belt, and starts the car, apparently driving normally until he gets some distance from the warehouse, then he starts to accelerate the car, more and more until Ana confronts him:
"Scoot, you can slow down, I want to get home alive..."
Scoot smiles and says:
"We're not going to your house Ana, we have some things to sort out first..."
Ana knows she has business to settle with him, she calms down a little and says:
"That's why there's no point in getting worked up over your friends and trying to defend them, if they'd let me leave like I asked, none of this would have happened and don't even think about telling anyone, or I'll go..."
Scoot stops the car, in a more secluded spot, she frowns and speaks:
"They're not my friends, so stop saying they're my friends, my family finances them, they're paid to be on my side only, that's what they're for."
Ana tries to calm down, she needs to be calm because she's dealing with Scoot, on the one hand she thought she knew him well, but on the other she knows she knows nothing about him, she takes a deep breath and says:
"So, for the sake of our friendship, can you not say anything about what happened Scoot?"
Scoot stares at her, he smiles slightly, after all, the situation is totally in his favor now, and he has already noticed that Ana is even answering him a little rudely, you can see her anxiety, if he really says that she was the one who set the fire, she knows that her father will have to blame her in some way, at the time she didn't think much about her actions, nor that the fire would take on another proportion, and cause some damage.
Scoot crosses his arms, and seems to be thinking about something:
(I've never seen Ana be so angry and retort something, she's usually quieter, she must be really angry with me, damn it Luke, now that I know you've simply forgotten about her, I need to stay close to her and not push her further away...)
A few minutes of silence in the car, Scoot then speaks:
"First of all, Ana, we haven't solved the first question about the evidence that Caroline drugged you, I already have that packet of drugs, but you haven't been going to school or talking to me properly, and now we have this second issue to solve, it depends on how you want to solve it, and what you're willing to do to solve it."
Ana frowns, for a moment she had forgotten about Caroline, and the little package she was drugged in at the party, she needs proof so that the Disciplinary Board can take place against Caroline, Scoot could simply hand over the package, but we know he's friends with Caroline too and needs her for the Awakening Test, since they're a team, and now she's gotten herself into even more trouble, she sighs and says:
"Pff, what do you want in return? So much for the proof you have in your hands, and for not telling your father, that your "goons" intimidated me by causing a fire to break out."
Ana won't admit it by saying "I set it on fire", but she is making it clear why she did it, she did it in her defense.
Scoot smiles, and says:
"Oh, now you're speaking my language, I'll think about what I want, but for now I just want you not to ignore me, and you'll keep talking to me normally, regardless of my fight with Luke, he and I have a personal disagreement, it's up to me and him alone."
Ana is curious for a moment, what these "personal disagreements" would be, even though she knows he won't talk about it, she decides to ask:
"Personal disagreements that you're not going to tell me about, right?"
Scoot nods in the affirmative:
"That's right, I'll take a rain check, since I'll probably take Luke's side."
Ana frowns and retorts:
"I'm not taking anyone's side if they've done the wrong thing, and apparently it wasn't a good thing."
Scoot is still surprised, and when Ana is talking and retorting, he invites her:
"Well, let's have an ice cream, and I won't take no for an answer, after all my silence is at stake here."
Ana already knows that with Scoot it's all about games, exchanges, she just doesn't think it's going to work out, literally buying silence in exchange for something, but she's already in the middle of a game, there's not much to run away from now, she says:
"Okay, but I need to take a shower and change my clothes, or they'll think I came straight out of a fire, you get the irony right, haha"
