We're falling at a speed that makes me doubt we'll survive, even if I manage to slow our descent using a pool of water or something similar. Maia is still by my side, her gaze fixed on the ground as we approach what seems like our imminent death.
"I can't see," she murmurs, and it seems to bother her in a way I don't understand.
"I know, you're blind."
We're even closer to dying than before.
"I don't mean that, my spiritual vision and sixth sense aren't working!"
A little closer to the ground.
"What?"
I'm about to ask her to be more specific about what she's trying to tell me, or at least why she's telling me this, when a strong pressure on my chest, like a hand striking me, suddenly stops me in midair. Seconds later, Maia is also halted by the same force. Despite being stopped, we aren't falling any further.
