Damien didn't expect Kendall to come out so soon.
He asked in a low voice, "Why don't you stay and chat for a while?"
Kendall's black pupils flickered. "He has lost his memory and doesn't remember who I am."
Damien's face changed. "The doctor said that his head injury is not serious, and it's unlikely to cause amnesia."
Kendall was aware of this. She slowly said, "This is his choice."
Damien nodded. He understood that it didn't matter whether Michael had truly lost his memory or was pretending. If Michael had genuinely forgotten the pain of his past, Kendall couldn't bring herself to dredge it all up again and push him back into that fire pit.
On the contrary, if Michael was pretending to have lost his memory, bringing up the past wouldn't change anything either. Kendall's thanks, her guilt, and her self-blame wouldn't be what Michael wanted. Instead, they would only embarrass him further.
