While Neil and the guide were searching for someone, Kendall and Michael were being watched at the entrance of the village as if they were outsiders.
A group of brave local children, wearing second-hand clothes that they had found from who-knows-where, wandered around them, laughing and playing, truly innocent.
Michael found this amusing, so he shared the fruit-flavored pressed candies in his pocket with them.
Suddenly, more children surrounded Michael, and the candies were quickly distributed.
"Do you like children?" Kendall asked casually.
"I wouldn't say I particularly like them, but I think children of this age deserve some delicious treats," Michael responded, lowering his eyes.
Instead of being like him and Aiden, trained to survive at all costs, these children should be allowed to enjoy simple pleasures.
"Kendall, Michael." Neil called out as he approached. "Get in the car; we're heading to the next village."
