Chapter 60 - Chapter 60: Hiding? Can You Hide?

"Damn! Its such a huge factory! The rent for one month is only a hundred thousand! That old man before was definitely trying to scam us!" Simonov kicked an empty wooden crate and exclaimed incredulously at the empty factory in front of them.

"It's obvious! That guy wanted to turn us into dummies back then!"

"Yeah, last time we stayed overnight and the guy wouldn't even refund us!" Nagant Revolver and BM59 chimed in, causing M1911 to wipe off a cold sweat.

Refund?

That was strange. Didn't they see the commander go straight to that guy's mansion and blow it up?

That place was worth more than just a hundred thousand.

"Commander, the landlord mentioned that the dolls here suddenly malfunctioned..." M1 Garand felt that there was something suspicious in the landlord's parting words. An occasional doll malfunction might not be a big deal for humans, but for dolls...

"No big deal. It's just someone playing tricks. Just don't go near the back of the factory for now. There is..." Before Reno could finish, Simonov staggered towards the end of the factory.

"Huh? Commander, what did you say? There's nothing wrong here... Huh?" Just as Simonov, intending to check the boxes piled at the end of the factory for any good finds, turned around after hearing Reno's words, but then she immediately felt something was wrong with her body. It was exactly the same symptoms as when they encountered the EMP pulse device at the doll trafficker's camp!

"Right! That guy we met in the outskirts before seemed to know the guy with the sunglasses!" M1 Garand, seeing Simonov's symptoms, immediately remembered the small EMP device on the truck.

"Oh yeah! Simonov's symptoms now are the same as back then!" MDR also agreed, then took out her phone and snapped several pictures of Simonov's slow movements and distorted expression.

"Arghh! Damn it! Get me out of here!" Simonov's frustrated cries echoed.

In the end, Reno, unaffected by the EMP, had to personally go in and drag the reckless Simonov out of the EMP's range.

Fortunately, the factory was very spacious, with the EMP area only occupying more than half of the entire factory, still leaving enough space for the dolls to move freely. Even if they wanted to set up a tennis court, there was still plenty of room to use.

"Really, is it another doll trafficker? What are the city guards doing? How can there be an EMP device even in a rundown factory? What's happening to this world? Can't dolls catch a break?" Simonov, who suffered a setback in the back of the factory, helped unload the truck while grumbling incessantly, occasionally glancing at Reno.

While the dolls were busy unloading the truck, Reno took the opportunity to thoroughly inspect the back of the factory and confirm the approximate location of the EMP generator.

Underneath the pile of covered debris in the factory, the metal walls of the factory were lined with several inconspicuous holes, and several unassuming devices were placed on the ground. These devices were coated with a layer of paint, making them appear inconspicuous at first glance.

It was only upon closer inspection that one could notice these small objects.

All these devices were connected to a wrist-thick cable, which extended from the inside of the factory to the outer wall of the factory area and then entered the other side of the wall from underground.

Asking why the landlord, who obviously didn't discover such obvious things? Surely that guy didn't come over to check it himself; it was all done by his dolls. As soon as one of the doll came over here, they might have been interfered with the EMP so it would have been strange for them to discover these.

"Now you guys pack up here, don't come near this side. I'll go outside to see what's going on. If there's anything, just shout for me."

Dragging a few cables, Reno pushed open the back door of the factory and walked out. The landlord was really careless; the back door wasn't even locked. A light push was all it took to open it. It's no wonder someone could easily drill so many holes in the back wall.

Exiting through the back door and climbing over a two-meter-high wall, Reno immediately saw a trash can two meters away from the base of the wall. The person who set up the interference device did a good job, knowing to cover these cables with a trash can.

However, there was no concealment for the subsequent cables, which hung under the eaves of the house and entered one of the two-story buildings.

It seemed that this was the home of the mastermind.

The civilian area inside the city was like another world compared to the spacious streets they saw when they came in. The roads were narrow, the houses were crowded, and even the hygiene conditions on the streets were very worrying. Just arriving here, he could smell a very unpleasant odor, obviously the people here weren't very civilized, walking their birds around every day.

This was probably one of the reasons why the landlord didn't come to check the situation himself. After all, for that guy, it was just an empty factory, and moving to another factory was no big deal. Anyway, the dolls wouldn't come out to protest.

Standing in front of the door for a while, Reno still didn't wait for the homeowner to open the door and knocked.

He frowned impatiently.

He could hear someone inside this building, on the second floor, and the person inside immediately tiptoed up when they heard the knocking, trying to conceal the fact that they were home.

Maybe he was avoiding his creditor? But that had nothing to do with him. Did he think a door could stop him?

Throwing down the cables, Reno raised his foot and kicked the reinforced door with several layers of steel plates!

Boom!
