"Are you alright?" Victor asked, his voice edged with worry as he held Selene close, wisps of smoke curling off his clothes.
Selene coughed, "Y-Yeah," she managed, her voice raspy as she tried to catch her breath.
Victor gave a relieved nod before setting her gently on the ground. Selene turned, looking up just as one of the rooms, her room of course, flames spilling out in violent, storm-like waves.
"F-Father?" She hesitated, a flicker of worry crossing her face.
Victor noticed the expression and sighed internally.
As much as Selene loved him, he knew she still cared for her father.
Despite everything, no one in their right mind would want their father to die right before their eyes... and it wasn't as though she held any deep hatred for Velc.
So he reassured her, "He's fine," Victor said, pointing to a corner where he'd tossed Velc out of harm's way just before the blast.
