Chapter 9 - Understanding capabilities

Speech - inner thoughts

'Speech' - talking inside of mind/telepathy

"Speech" - talking outloud

Speech - narrator

Doors shut, lights out. The 'key-asking' was even smarter than I thought. Need to use my 'arm-helper', I guess. Hey, interface just got updated, so that's the interaction with outside world provided by this tool. Cool, maybe. Useful, that's for sure. 'Insert the key' and blank space. Gotcha mate, all I need is to check Grid's message and. . . yup, here it is. No way in. . . wait, does hell actually exist? I mean, omniversal place for bad people to reside from being alive. Well, they only test for uniqueness, so no bad/good people for them.

Back to the track, no way in void this kind of guy could've come up with this password. Generated, I'm sure. This means either his security system uses some kind of 'invite', which will register my Sci-fi PC, or he just generated really 'complex' password. So, the second, I presume? He'll be robed at some point. Hope I'd leave him by that point. And I'm sure even if I tipped him about his safety problems, he would just ignore me, 'cause 'good security system is too expensive', or something like that. Eh, problems for future him.

Well, key worked. Now, onto the 'destruction-creation' process. Of which I have close to no ideas about its process. Great start. Not. *sign* Guess, I will extranet guns-making while I go downstairs.

.

Okay, that I should've expected. Apparently, guns have corpos to name them. Orders didn't have those. Will I create illegal bullet-spitting-tubes? That's . . . bad? I mean, most of the fault will fall upon 'not-present-greedy-c*bleep*t'. Either that, or I still have 0 ideas about creation process. Which I am. I mean, no explanation about hi-tech box, omni-gel application toward said creation process, nothing. And they said 'Everything can be found in the Internet'. Which is like an infant version of extranet. Confidential information, I guess.

So, how will I learn how to do my work? OSD didn't have any tips, so. . . wait, could it be that I need to use the same 'door-trick'? Well, no harm in trying. . .maybe. *sign* I'll just do it, and if I die from security system, equipment failure, or something else, I'll. . . do something. To. . . someone. . . hit me with the hammer, Miri, so that at least something would be nailed.

Stray thoughts are getting worse; I've gone to S/M part. With bad jokes, apparently. Okay, less thinking, more. . . holo-doing. Hey, UI updated, hooray. So, what does it show. . . 'Gel status' and 'Template', I guess this type of a machine does not need creativity, I'll let it slide. So, do I press a button or thi. . .

Never mind, pressing it is. The 'can-hole' just unsealed. So I just need to insert those omni-tanks here, easy. . . and done. Now, the first button, turned from red to green, guess that's done. Now, 'Template', show me your secrets. 'Create' and 'Production', so I can create some templates, and produce with this box, I get that. What I don't though is, are all the guns are really just a bunch of omni-gel?

I mean, I could simply touch some buttons randomly and see where it goes. In fiction, it works. There was this saying in my previous life: Sometimes you gotta run, before you can walk. And then that guy almost crushed from, like, 20 km of height. So, baby steps first, research this machine.

.

Okay, 'wow' is the first thing I can express. I didn't expect that. First, guns actually consist of metal, not so simple, though. This machine is actually used for reconstructing omni-gel into other materials with some 'molecular mumbo-jumbo'. So, I've been analyzing the outcome by creating parts for the first gun. By the way, 'templates' are actually for metal composition and forms. So, 3d-printer, basically.

But the 'composition' part is interesting. Apparently, 'create' is used for adding new forms and materials to the database of the machines. Limits? Operators knowledge on the subject. So, theoretically, I could, with enough knowledge, recreate vibranium by inputting some numbers, just like that, and have an infinite source of said material. Too good to be true. So I studied templates and printed parts a bit harder. Result was kinda disappointing, but fully expected.

So, firstly: alloys aren't allowed. Heh. Pure metals only. So, that's already big limiter. But then come second one: material created would be somewhat weaker. . . not the right word. . . nope, can't use only one word. Basically, it will lose some of it function. Back with my example, vibranium would lose some of its absorbing capabilities and would be less sturdy. Still, it would be the superior metal, if not for third 'but'. Numbers, like 'density', 'durability', etc. need to be precise up to 20th digits. So, yeah, that's difficult.

Well, I can alleviate somewhat the third one. My 'Void sight', yup. Found some usage for you, finally. Drawbacks: need more perception; need existing material, not the fabricated one. Still, better than anyone out there. Like, I could in theory scan the Citadels base materials and use them to create my gear. Even weakened, those would be nigh-indestructible. Oh, which remind me of the forth limit: different materials – different amount of omni-gel. So, for my 'Infinity gear' I'll need a f*bleep*kton of omni-gel tanks. For comparison, I'll need around 50 storage units like that one to create a bracelet. Not accurate, but still. And let's not forget about energy consumption. Grid's electrical bills would be through the . . . roof would be to tame to compare.

To the assembling part, I guess. And yeah, manual one. At least, you don't need any actual tool for this simplicity of a creation. Starring omni-gel as 'Glue', it connects with its transmuted siblings, so . . . basically you need to place parts where they belong, pour some silvery liquid and the gun is ready to shoot. By the way, shooting is not restricted by limited capacity of bullets. I mean, they aren't infinite, but still, more than enough. The heating part is bad though.

Returning from my 'distraction-trip', again, calculating time spent. . . 1 minute of printing plus around 5 minutes assembling – 6 minutes for one gun. Fifteen would take hour and a half, give or take. That's not counting my improvement so, maybe even less.

By the way, I finished creation of an item. Strange that my system didn't rea. . .

[AGI parameter skill use detected. Wish to learn?]

Please tell me you're not sentient. 'Cause to me it looked like you waited just to interrupt me. Anyway, 'AGI parameter'? I guess, because the only thing that I do is assembling, agility is accurate. Oh, almost forgot. Yes, I wish to learn.

[Acknowledged. Skill 'Craftsmanship' created. 1 slot consumed]

[Craftsmanship

Attribute: AGI

Level: 1

Description: Gamers ability to create material objects.]

So, my system works on this universe's laws, because this creativity hurts me. Although, there isn't really a lot of ways to describe crafting skill. Plus, I understand how it works so it doesn't really matter. And, I guess I'll have a skill for 'immaterial objects'. Anyway, still have 14 simple pistols to assemble. Why do I have a feeling that 'here we go again' phrase will be my main one for the crafting process?

.

*humming sounds* Another one bites the dust. The last one, actually. Damn, that is boring. Or would be, if I didn't turn my music on. Music is the best time killer. And, we're back to strays. After all that, I sure as Void will learn Meditation, these thoughts are tiring.

[Skill 'Craftsmanship' update

Level:4>5]

Four levels later, no changes at all. Not easily noticed ones, at least. *tired sign* Let's just finish this work and go meditating. What's the nest one? Heavy pistol, gotcha. Playlist, my dearest. I trust you with choosing the most suitable songs, let this work be more enjoyable. And, Shuffle.

.

*'4 hours later' in a tired voice*

.

FINALLY, I f*bleep*ng finished. Okay, I'm overreacting, I know. Wasn't that bad, music helps. Add the almost trance-inducing routine and you get relaxing sequence. You could say, I enjoyed it. And, my head was clear for the whole process. Such a great state.

And I'm finally going to figure out the easy switch to this state. The Meditation, finally. Wait, why I actually wanted to learn this skill? I don't have mana/health/stamina points, so regeneration is questionable. Eh, the state alone is more than enough.

Okay, now focus. Cross-legged position, check. Hands connected, check. Eyes closed, check. So, my body is ready. Now, onto my mind. I need to clear my head, but it's not like I can just stop thinking. So, focus on something single, no go even further. Hyperfocus on one single thing. Breathing will do just fine.

Okay, breath in . . . breath out. . . breath in. . . pancakes. Okay, why pancakes? I'm not even hungry. Maybe they have some higher meaning or . . . get back, now. Again, same breathing sequence. *breathing*

.

What's the meaning of life? Why are we here? Just to su. . . f*bleep*k. These thoughts are just rushing in when you're not expecting them. It's annoying. Again.

*angry breathing*

.

*calm breathing*

.

Third time is a charm, yahoo. And I f*bleep*ed it up. Sure, should've expected that. Again.

.

*calm breathing*

.

.

Okay, I'm back, I guess. That was. . . something. When I was assembling, I thought that was 'mind zero'. Not even close. 'Mind-zero' is. . . scary. Like I lost my body for the time being. Still, it was worth it. While scary, it was. . . serenity in itself. No problems, no ideas, no strays. Just me with myself.

[WIS parameter skill use detected, wish to learn?]

I forgot. Wait, I forgot about skill acquiring. That's . . . even more scary. No more focus on breathing. No more hyperfocus. No matter the feeling, I still want to retain my thought process. Ah, by the way, yes, I wish.

[Acknowledged. Skill 'Meditation' created. 1 slot consumed]

[Perfect compatibility found]

[User intention acknowledged]

[Skill 'Meditation' transforms into 'Void library']

[Void library

Attribute: WIS

Level: 1

Description: Gamers ability to connect with the Void to learn theoretical part of skills. Human part restrictions: only current universe knowledge available; only slot-consumed skills.]

Huh? Gomennasai, but what de f*bleep*k? That woke me up from my after meditation, that's for sure. And you guessed it right, its QnoA time!

First, skill apparently can be changed. Can it be that all skills have this ability? Considering requirements stated, maybe? What do I have? Intent and craftsmanship, can any of them evolve/mutate? Intent is a projection of my soul upon reality, so for it to change I need to change my soul, I think. So it's safe and stable, got it. Craftsmanship, in practice it's simple assembling skill. But my skill mentions theoretical part. So, if all my theories will come from my new skill, then craft shouldn't change. Not 100%, but still quite sure.

Next, the intention part. So, system listens to me. No, not me. Well, me, but not conscious me. The so-called 'true me'. I guess I was really scared by that state, so that my intention was accounted towards my skill change. That means my system will only listen my true thoughts. Good to hear. Although, note to myself, research intention application towards battle-gear. I have a feeling that will be usefull.

Third, restrictions. That's confirmed then, my soul restricts anything 'Void-flavored'. And, as my soul shouldn't be strong enough to do that, there's only 1 way this could be possible. 'Gamer' combined with my soul. Which means, that all skill progression only affects my soul. It makes sense, I mean I suspected that already, but now I know for sure.

Now, I wonder, what knowledge I do have access. Which are affected by my stat, and by my skill? How does the theoretical part works? Well, I have couple hours to try it out. What do I want to search for? Craft. . . no, I'll have a lot of practice here, non-conspicuous one. Intent though, that's the pick. If I learn it the traditional way, a lot of people will be affected. So, needless risk.

Yup, Intent it is. And, yet again, assuming position. Okay, deep breath. . . Void library, Intent.

.

*sound of imaginary wind*

.

So, it's really just a library? Not even that, just 2 bookshelves and. . . literal nothing. Void, am I right? So, will there be just, like, a dozen of bookshelves? Boring. Eh, till it works, I guess. And, it has just a couple books, each. *sign* I hope, leveling will change this. Anyway, which one is the Intent-containing one? Ah, the right one, okay. So, reading time. No music though, bummer.
