Chapter 3 - Home

The car glided to a graceful halt in front of the majestic gate, adorned with intricate black and gold accents, it gave of a regal elegance vibe. With a press of a button by Kenny, the gates slid open, revealing the massive mansion within.

As they passed through the gates, the exterior of the mansion stood out in pristine white, accented with deep, luxurious blue. There was a breathtaking water fountain adorned in the s garden, its crystal-clear waters shimmering in the sunlight adding more elegance to the garden. The structure of the mansion itself resembled a miniature castle.

With a gentle purr, the car came to a stop, and Kat and Hanna stepped out, waving goodbye to Kenny as he drove off into the distance.

Approaching the grand double doors of the mansion, intricately carved with a stunning coral royal design, they entered a space that exuded regal elegance, the interior of the mansion was as stunning as it's exterior.

Making their way to the main living room, they were greeted by the comforting aroma of home-cooked meals and the rhythmic sounds of Emma bustling about in the kitchen. Kat and Hanna sank into the plush couch, releasing relieved sighs of exhaustion. Their attention shifted as the sound of approaching footsteps. A woman's voice, sweet and welcoming, shattered the silence. "You're back," she said warmly, emerging from the direction of the kitchen.

In her forties, she exuded a sense of timeless grace, her brown hair elegantly knotted at the nape of her neck, while her warm brown eyes gleamed with kindness. She's was dressed in a simple yet immaculate uniform, her demeanor radiated and motherly.

"Welcome home, both of you," she greated with a smile. "Thank you, Emma," they responded with a subtle smile. "You must be hungry. Go freshen up, and I'll start preparing dinner," she suggested, the time was close to evening.

Kat's face lit up with anticipation, like a child eagerly awaiting a long-desired treat, as she enveloped the woman in a warm embrace. "What would I do without you?" Kat exclaimed, planting a soft kiss on her cheek. Emma chuckled warmly, and Hanna joined in, knowing full well the sparkle in Kat's eyes meant she couldn't wait to eat. "Okay, okay. You both go get washed up," Hanna urged playfully, ushering them towards the stairs.

Kat and Hanna ascended the stairs to their respective rooms to freshen up, while Auntie Emma disappeared into the kitchen to finish preparing their meal.

Minutes later, Hanna descended the stairs, her blond hair still slightly damp, cascading in loose waves around her shoulders. Her fair complexion glowed with cleanliness, and her forest green eyes sparkled under the warm light of the mansion. Unlike her usual seriousness, her demeanor was relaxed and carefree. She wore a simple blue top that accentuated her slim waist and a pair of black sweatpants, her features radiant and well-defined.

Entering the dining room, Hanna found Emma setting the table and offered to help. Just then, Kat joined them, her hair now tied up in a messy bun unlike Hanna's whose wasn't fully dried.

Dressed in a black t-shirt and green shorts, she approached the table with light footsteps. Her eyes eagerly scanned the dishes laid out by Miss Emma, the tantalizing aroma of the food enveloping her senses. They both settled into their seats at the table.

"Hanna dear, you should have dried your hair properly you could catch a cold" Emma pointed out worriedly, Hanna was going to respond but Kat spoke first "mmm and later she accuses me of being the glutton, but here she is show eager for food she didn't even dry her hair of properly" Kat remark sent her a sharp look. "Emma I'm fine you know I like leavening my hair to dry, after a long day. it helps me cool my head" Hanna said and turned to Kat "I'm not accusing you of being a glutton you are one" Hanna taunted. Kat huffed dramatically turning her head away

Emma couldn't help but laugh, at both the girls exchange, when it was time for work they were well organised groomed women, and when they cam home they were no less damn children.

After serving both girls, Emma excused herself, mentioning more tasks needing attention, leaving Kat and Hanna alone in the dining room.

Emma had been the caretaker of the mansion for 19 years, starting when Kat was only two years old. She had faithfully served both Kat and the mansion. even after the passing of Kat's mother and brother.

The Young family, including Elizabeth, Nathan, and Katharine, along with their supposed uncle Michael and helper Emma, shared a tight bond. Nathan was six years older than Katharine as children he was fiercely protective of his younger sister, they shared unbreakable bond and never go anywhere without each other, like every sibling having occasional sibling squabbles.

Elizabeth was a loving mother to both her children, as they where the only thing she had and cherished the most. Until tragedy struck one night in a horrific car accident, taking her life and that of Nathan as well, leaving Kat traumatized and alone at six years old. Witnessing their deaths left lasting scars on her tender little heart.

Michael, Kat's supposed uncle, took on the role of her legal guardian, with Emma's assistance. Over time, Emma became somewhat a mother figure to Kat, providing comfort and support.

Despite that Kat's mother and brother's death loomed large over her childhood, leaving an unhealable wound. Their sudden loss shattered her world, plunging her into grief and despair from a young age.

Kat had always harbored a curiosity about her father, yet information about him remained elusive. All she knew was that he had passed away before her birth, leaving behind a void that no one seemed willing to address, her mother, rarely spoke of him, and any inquiries Kat made were met with evasive responses, leaving her with more questions than answers.

As a young child, Kat grappled with the magnitude of her loss. The absence of her mother's warm embrace and her brother's playful laughter created a haunting void within their once lively home. Nights were spent restlessly, tormented by nightmares fueled by the memory of that terrible night when her world shattered into pieces.

The trauma made it hard for her to socialise with other kids or anyone she didn't know. Forced into homeschooling until college due to her social struggles, Kat found solace in academia. Immersed in books and studies, she thrived intellectually, finding refuge in learning.

But despite her academic prowess, Kat's inner turmoil remained ever-present, a constant companion that weighed heavily on her young shoulders. To distract herself from the relentless ache of grief, she threw herself into a multitude activities and hobbies.

From art classes to music lessons, she found temporary reprieve in creative pursuits, each offering a fleeting escape from her sorrow. With a paintbrush in hand, she found solace in rhythmic strokes, while melodies from her piano eased her mind. Photography captured fleeting moments, literature offered an escape into imagination, and culinary experiments unfolded in the kitchen under Miss Emma's guidance. As she matured, her multifaceted talents blossomed, particularly in art, a trait she inherited from her father, which was one of the only things she knew about him.

As she grew older, she continued to develop interests in various fields, showcasing her multifaceted talents.

At sixteen, she delved into fashion design with fervor, but two years later, her focus shifted to acting, where her talent and striking beauty earned her acclaim.

Thanks to her affluent background, kat had never had a issue financially. Supported by her uncle, she explored her passions as they evolved over time.

By nineteen, her acting career blossomed, establishing her as a rising star. Though she was used to her uncle's frequent business, he was mostly absent and she spent her time with Emma.

After her eighteenth birthday, her uncle's extended business trip left her disappointed, Nevertheless she was fine and started living her life independently.
