Chapter 3 - Intervention

Immediately upon noticing the figure of this man with crimson eyes whose face was smeared with blood, a shiver ran down his spine.

At the same time his eyes became extremely frantic as his mind worked at a rapid pace; desperately urging him to run away. His mouth went dry and his complexion turned ghastly pale.

Without any second thought, he desperately tried to move his body as he desperately felt like running away from this man who right now to him looked like an incarnation of devil himself.

"Oh…. You're awake?" noticing the wide opened eyes of this boy, the hooded individual couldn't help but feel a tad bit surprised.

Just like the previous two individuals, he had poisoned him with the right dosage, yet unlike the previous two, he opened his eyes before he could even wound him.

It was quite natural for the previous girl to open her eyes given her condition. But this boy was somewhat unusual.

Although he was taken aback a little, he soon recomposed his composure, "Well I wouldn't expect less from the heir of Lancaster family and from one of the heavenly swordsman's candidate after all but if you're thinking of running away then might I remind you that you've been poisoned with Deadly Nightshade's poison. I'm sure you've been taught about this in academy, right?"

The moment he heard about the name of the poison, even the last ray of hope which he was relying vanished from his sight. His frantic eyes became dull as he felt like he was plunged into darkness. There was simply no hope left alive for him.

But how could he accept that fact that he was going to die so easily?

"Even the sole reason why you were selected as heavenly swordsman's candidate is all thanks to me. So, don't hate me kid, I'm just trying to take back what's rightfully mine"

Mumbling such, he lifted his dagger; preparing to end the life of this kid who was barely 17 or 18 in front of him. With a cold-hearted look on his eyes, he then thrusted his dagger.

Although he said those words, he couldn't care less whether this kid or anyone else hated him for his deeds. He simply couldn't care less about other's opinion. Putting up this façade of trying to look nice was all an act to satisfy himself and nothing else.

However the moment his dagger was about to hit this kid, a sharp beam of energy flowed towards him causing him to halt his movement and retract few steps in hurry.

This scenario was totally out of his expectation and thus for split second it caught him off-guard.

His eyes became extremely irritated upon facing this unexpected turn of events. Immediately as he retreated his steps, he jolted his eyes towards the direction from where the energy beam had flowed.

Tracing the direction of the energy beam, he found bunch of people rushing towards him at rapid speed led by a blond-haired individual.

If it were under normal circumstances, his vison might have been obstructed by the darkness.

However right now because of the light generated from the stone altar, he could visibly see the people approaching towards him. Most of those bunch of people were dressed in shiny metal armours while the one leading those bunch was dressed in somewhat black somewhat red armour made up of Dragonstone, one of the rarest ore found in the world.

With a withered face reflecting a life of sun and battle while rushing towards the hooded individual, the blond-haired individual was leading bunch of armoured people, his piercing blue eyes was radiating an intense bloodlust.

Just the appearance of that monster of a man who was like about 2 meters tall with a physique like that of grizzly bear, made the hooded individual contort his face in frustration and disgust.

"Tch…. Magnus"

He bitterly clicked his tongue as he shot gaze full of rage towards the blond-haired individual who was rushing towards him while radiating intense bloodlust.

As much as he was bothered by the appearance of this individual, he was even more bothered by the fact that his ritual was obstructed and also, he was running out of time. Even if he wished to engage with them, he had no time.

Although the poison would kill this miserable boy eventually, he couldn't wait that long as the time required for completing this ritual was running out.

Thus, he turned his attention towards the boy in front of him. Intense bloodlust rose within him as almost every single runic symbol etched on his body lit up.

With swift nimble steps, he charged towards the boy without thinking of anything else.

Noticing the charge of that hooded individual, Magnus who was rushing towards him became extremely enraged.

"Argh…. Don't touch my son?" Magnus yelled at the top of his voice as he increased his pace— his voice like that of a roar of a tiger.

At once, his red armour radiated brightly as an extremely concentrated layer of energy which was dark red in colour enveloped his entire body. At the same time, he felt a surge of energy rising within his body. Tearing through the air, he travelled at the speed of sound; instantly closing the distance between him and the hooded individual.

Sensing danger the hooded individual paused midway and reflexively ducked his head.

The moment he ducked his head, a sword flew right above his head. Sure, enough judging by the trajectory of the sword, it was aimed towards his head.

However, he didn't stay put as he immediately went for a counterattack. The runes in his legs, back and hand lit up, strengthening his legs, his back and his hand almost at the same time which in turn caused his strength to alleviate to a different level.

He then sliced his dagger vertically upward, targeting the only unguarded part of this massive opponent he was facing at the moment. Even if he stood on his toes, he could barely reach the shoulder length of this man in front of him.

Even so, his lack of height didn't stop him from finding the neck of his opponent.

At the same time, he was wary of those bunches who were closing on to him as well. Just because he had to focus most of his attention on this bear like person, he couldn't afford to take his attention off of other guys who were with this man.

Just like him, the man was skilled enough as well. And at normal times, he would have avoided taking hit but right now, he wanted nothing more than to tear this menace of a person apart in tiny pieces.

Although his son was still alive, the figure of his lifeless daughter who was covered in blood made his heart shudder, blood boil and his eyes red with anger.

Maybe he couldn't salvage his daughter but he could still avenge her by killing this menace who had pierced her heart.

Afraid to let him go, he then instead of dodging moved his upper body slightly forward, causing the hooded individual to hit his armour.
