Chapter 31 - A Small Problem

 030#

It was night in Murkia Castle. A 17-year-old boy, with long shoulder-length blond hair and sky-blue eyes, was wandering through the castle's corridors. That young man was none other than Prince Simon, the future heir to the Kingdom of Murk. Instead of his usual knightly attire, he was wearing flashy clothes: dark blue on top and brown underneath. However, he still carried his trusty sword.

Simon was looking for his father, whom he had not seen all day. According to some servants, Alvin was in the subway tombs of the Murk family, located beneath the castle. Although Simon was not particularly interested in visiting tombs, he went downstairs and approached a small door. Opening it, he found a hallway that housed 31 tombs of former kings and relatives of the Murk family, all marked with marble tombstones.

Although darkness filled the place, Simon could see perfectly. Her gaze fell on her father, Alvin, who was standing in front of one particular tomb, staring at her.

Concerned, Simon approached his father and said, "Father, what are you doing here? We have to prepare the negotiations for tomorrow's meeting with the Centaur Tribe."

Although Alvin seemed to hear him, he continued to stare at the tomb, ignoring his son. Simon, examining the tombstone his father looked at so much, read the name of the relative resting there. Engraved on the tombstone was "Trevor Murk," his late uncle and King Alvin's older brother.

"Why are you looking at Uncle Trevor's grave, Father?" asked Simon.

With his blue eyes and long blond hair bobbing, Alvin looked at his son and replied, "I'm simply remembering moments with him, moments before he died."

Simon stared at the grave and remembered the stories he had read about his Uncle Trevor. The chief heir was an exceptional and disciplined warrior, as well as an outstanding ship designer. Thanks to him, the kingdom invaded some enemy islands in the sea. Trevor was a man in whom Simon had been greatly inspired.

However, when everything was ready for Trevor to be crowned as the next king, one day before the ceremony, he took his own life by throwing himself from the top of the castle.

"Do you miss him?" asked Simon.

With a sigh, Alvin replied, "Yes, I miss him. If I could, I would bring him back to life."

Although Alvin's words may sound "nice," there was a certain hatred in his eyes and in his words.

Simon noticed the tension but decided to ignore it. "Well, I'm leaving. Don't stay here too long."

"All right," Alvin replied.

With those words, Simon walked away leaving his father alone. After a minute of leaving, Alvin pulled down his pants exposing his small penis and began to pour his urine on his older brother's grave while muttering, "I hate you."

After Luxter released Andy, they began to discuss their escape plan. Although they came to a mutual understanding, the distrust between them persisted. They were facing each other with an intense campfire in between, but the heat was not enough to dissolve the tension between them. Luxter, gazing into the flames, initiated the conversation.

Luxter, with a conspiratorial look, approached Andy in the dimness of the cell. "Andy, although I said it was a good plan, on closer inspection, it will prove complicated. However, I know a specific place where we could tunnel in without causing trouble. But we have to get rid of someone. His name is Ilugin Olrick; he controls all the prisoners in this Zone with an iron fist."

Andy, who was eating frozen bread, asked, "Ilugin?"

Luxter sighed, revealing a trace of resentment. "Ilugin, my rival in the popularity ranking just like you. If we manage to eliminate him, we'll be able to move freely around the Zone without being attacked by his minions. That half-breed bastard Ilugin. He has a deal with the maids in charge of the Zone, Teresa and Lily, who provide him with extra rations in exchange for keeping order in the Zone."

Andy, assessing the situation, asked, "And how do we plan to do that?"

Luxter smiled slyly. "We have to be subtle. We could poison his food or take advantage of a vulnerable moment when he's alone. But we must act quickly and discreetly."

As Luxter and Andy plotted to dismantle Ilugin's control, they knew they were entering dangerous waters.

The ringing of a bell echoed throughout the icy Isolation Zone area. The sound was followed by a female scream that pierced the prison walls, declaring, "It's time to eat, you scum!"

The woman's voice reverberated throughout the dark subway prison, and Andy, feeling a shiver run down his spine as he recognized the voice, looked at Luxter with uncertainty in his eyes.

"What's going on?" asked Andy, trying to grasp the situation.

Luxter, with a calm expression, replied, "It's lunchtime. It seems that Teresa, the food supervisor, has announced the arrival of meals for all the prisoners."

The sound of the bell and the footsteps of the prisoners echoed throughout the zone, heading toward the common area to receive their rations. Andy, still a little hesitant, asked Luxter, "So what do we do now?"

Luxter smiled and replied, "Let's join the feast. We can't think on an empty stomach, and besides, if we keep eating this bread, we'll die."

Cautiously, Luxter and Andy walked out of the cell, mingling with the prisoners toward the common area. The ringing of the bell ceased and the murmur of voices filled the air as they made their way to where the attendants, Teresa and Lily, would distribute the rations.
