Reinhard was a retired veteran Swordsman who had brought terror to his enemies on battlefield under the banner of Duke of Silverdawn Enclave.
Even though he had only stepped in the realm of Grandmaster just in his fifties, not even those century old Grandmasters dared to be careless in front of him.
' Crimson Silver ' was the notorious nickname he had earned because of the hundreds of lives he had reaped with his sword. 'Thousandbane' .. just like him, she got a name for herself after sending a thousand souls to their creator.
Alice wouldn't deny that most of the credit she had earned in the war which earned her a title of Countess belonged to this freak. But-
" Don't you get bored waiting here so long doing nothing? Why don't you stop being lazy and have some fun inside? " she could only sigh helplessly looking at her coachman who was sitting there idly almost half asleep.
His appearance of a slobby middle-aged man fooled many not suspecting in the least that he was a crazy demon feared by many. His divine control of aura was evident from how well concealed he was.
Reinhard opened his eyes lazily as if he was really sleeping, a little surprised as he noticed the young man following his Miss.
' He's not someone normal ' was the first thought he had ignoring Lucian's wild charm.
" Good morning " Lucian's soft voice reverberated in his mind suppressing his rising curiousity and mild vigilance.
Reinhard narrowed his eyes and took a second look at the young man before completely ignoring him.
Turning to Alice he answered casually, " I'm afraid that some people would disown their life because of their hot blood. I don't dare disturb your stay. "
Alice curled up her lips as if secretly cursing him. She didn't bother arguing anymore and entered her luxurious carriage. Lucian just gave a simple nod towards Reinhard and followed behind.
" So you're not going to to do anything about that stalker of yours? " he sat opposite to her surprisingly not taking her side seat. But thinking of his character, she didn't find it strange.
" He's more of an idiot than I thought. Just because he's some Baron's son who's barely a Rank-4 Spiritualist he has become too arrogant. "her ridicule was obvious in her tone. Clearly, this was not the first time she was in this situation.
" I'm amazed how he's still breathing life after provoking you like that. " he was indeed a little surprised.
Alice gave him a flat stare as if asking ' What do you take me for ? '.
" Why kill him when he can be made use of for keeping other dogs away?" her simple answer added a new and obvious trait to her character. Though she had a short temper and was viewed as brazen, her childhood friend's wits influenced her well.
" I must thank whoever has coloured you so well. " He gave a knowing smile making her mouth twitch unable to retort.
The carriage soon arrived at one of the teleportation channels used by military personnel.
Even though only high-ranking nobles like Dukes, Marquess and maybe some Earls had the resources to build and manage a teleportation station in their fief, Alice was afterall the only child of Duke Silverdawn so she enjoyed his excessive doting everyway.
The guards didn't dare to check the carriage after seeing Reinhard, the last time their newly promoted Captain was lucky or maybe unlucky to catch a glimpse of Alice and was instantly mesmerized.
That time Alice was not a Countess yet but only a Viscount so he dared to be bold and asked for a checking inside the carriage.
Sadly for him, his hand which caught the handle of the door never managed to twist it as his head was already rolling over the ground.
'Thousandbane' had added another pitiful soul to it's bane.
The guards were scared like chickens and quickly reported to their higher-ups, but to their dismay not only Alice was held responsible but the retired Captain who was a Peak-Master Elementalist came personally to offer an apology for causing her inconvenience!!
' She's not someone you can mess with! ' that was the only thought in all their minds.
Like puppets they gave a military salute with their eyes glued to the ground. None dared to move, only when the sound of the rolling wheels stopped drumming their ears did they relax.
Inside the carriage, Alice was looking outside at the ten meters tall and seven metres wide gate avoiding someone's teasing smile.
The gate was made so big to send reinforcement to any part of the Empire in case of emergency.
Since it was an all millitary purpose gate, there was not much crowd. Even Nobles had to wait before passing through after a complete check-up if they were using it for personal use.
Their carriage didn't join the queue of a couple luxurious carriages and wagons.
The gate was made purely of blue essence stones with the formations inscribed using 'White' essence stones, considered the best for storing and conducting mana.
Even a gram of it was strictly controlled by Royal family and though blue essence stones were available for purchase, considering how even Counts would go bankrupt in a few years if they managed to build a gate somehow, no one was foolish enough to daydream of having a personal gate in their territory, not even one with one tenth size of the original one!!
There were no other structures within 100-meter range of the gate for safety issues.
Alice took out a wooden token which stored the spatial coordinates for her own gate in her fief.
The stand-by guard took it politely and inserted in a similar sized dent.
A whirling sound spread through as the liquid white material inside the circuit glowed with rainbow spectrum.
A rippling barrier was formed inside the the gate as it connected two spatial nodes using the formations.
After getting a green signal, the carriage passed through the barrier as if it was made of water but not.
Normal people would instantly faint by the spatial disorientation and even any ordinary Rank-2 would find it hard to get his footing.
Lucian and the company didn't react much though as they easily crossed the illusory yet real barrier.
The buzzing sound stopped and everything went back to normal after they left.
