Chapter 1: Complete hatred.
Look, I'm not saying life has totally been hard for me in terms of my school years. My work isn't hard, My teachers aren't mean and I get along quite well with a lot of people. The one thing that I've hated the most is Her. She's the worst. She has been doing nothing but make my life as miserable as she can. Of course, I have to come back to her with everything I've got and nine times out of 10, it didn't work. And It had been working… Until today..
Normal lunch day, I'm just sitting on a bench, minding my business until she comes to me and starts annoying me. "What's up, Kaiyo?" She calls out to me. I just wanted to turn away and have her leave me alone. I don't know why I continued the conversation, but I did. "Nothing much, why?" I asked, turning to her and raising my eyebrow. This is not the girl I remember, the girl who would just come up to me for idle chit-chat. Something must be off. "Eh, no reason, really. Just wanted to check up on you, that's about it." She says with a warm smile, kinda like she wanted to seem happy and likable, wasn't buying it. She would never just wanna "Check up on me'', she wanted something, and I could tell she wanted it right away. She then gave me a pat on the back and walked away. I could notice from a distance that she was high-fiving her friends. I just decided to go to the bathroom and look in the mirror. "This girl just can't leave me alone". I thought to myself. But, just as I was about to leave the bathroom, I noticed a big pile of glitter on the back of my shirt. I wanted to punch something, I wanted to punch her. "That son of a-" I stormed out of the bathroom like a toddler when they don't get what they want. I went up to my friend, Kayven, to show him. "Dude, what the hell happened to your shirt?" He asked. I sighed. "Who else? That girl, Zeila. I swear she's out to get me". He sat me down on a secluded set of stairs. "Dude, are you sure she hates you?"
"What other emotion could it be?"
"Have you heard of…it?"
I had no idea what this "It" that he speaks of could be. It can't be anything good, that's for sure.
"Everyone makes fun of someone they value" He says in a soft voice. I could hear how he genuinely feels. "Could it be that she hates you because she likes you?" He raised his eyes and smirked. Like me? Like Me?! We've grown up together through the grades, no doubt about that, but Like is a very strong word in this case scenario. It was basically hate at first sight.
To be honest, what he told me had to make me go home and watch some Tik-Tok videos about that.. What he told me got me thinking: does she really like me? Has she been treating me like this because she wants to be something more? And most importantly: Do I like her back…?
