Chapter 17 - They got Visit from Friends

As they continued to chat and laugh together, Blake couldn't help but envision the future moments they would share as a family. He imagined Kath's belly growing with new life, her parents doting on their grandchild, and the love and laughter that would fill their home.

With Kath's hand in his, Blake felt a deep sense of belonging and excitement for the future. He knew that with their families by their side, they were ready to embrace the adventure of parenthood and create a life filled with love, joy, and cherished memories.

As Blake and Kath sat together, discussing their hopes and dreams of starting a family, their conversation was interrupted by the familiar voices of their friends at the door. With a playful tone, one of their friends called out, "So when are we going to be godfather and godmother, by the way?"

The light-hearted teasing was met with laughter from everyone in the room, including Blake and Kath. Their friends, who had unexpectedly dropped by, brought with them an atmosphere of joy and camaraderie.

"Come on in!" Blake exclaimed, his smile widening as he welcomed their friends inside. Kath rose to greet them, her eyes sparkling with happiness at the unexpected visit.

Their friends gathered around, eager to catch up and join in the excitement of Blake and Kath's plans for the future. They shared stories and memories, reminiscing about their own journeys and offering playful advice and encouragement.

"You two will make amazing parents," one friend remarked, raising a toast with a mockingly serious expression. "To the future godparents!" Everyone joined in, clinking glasses and sharing in the joy of the moment.

As they settled into conversation, Blake and Kath felt grateful for the support and laughter their friends brought into their lives. The teasing continued throughout the evening, each comment and joke strengthening the bond between them all.

Their friends, who had become like family over the years, shared in the anticipation and excitement of Blake and Kath's journey toward parenthood. They offered their own unique perspectives and experiences, adding a layer of warmth and depth to the evening.

As the night drew to a close, Blake and Kath reflected on the unexpected joy of having their friends visit. The laughter and camaraderie had lifted their spirits and filled their hearts with gratitude for the friendships they cherished.

With their friends by their side, Blake and Kath knew they were surrounded by love and support as they looked forward to the future. They were eager to embark on this new chapter of their lives, knowing that their circle of friends would be there every step of the way, celebrating the milestones and sharing in the joys of parenthood ahead.

It was a crisp, late night, the kind that settles in comfortably after a hearty dinner. The crackling bonfire cast dancing shadows across the faces of Kath and her gathered friends—once merely colleagues, now cherished companions. The warmth of the flames mirrored the warmth in Kath's heart as she basked in the joy of their company.

"Hey Kath, we really miss you," Gin's voice cut through the crackling of the fire, breaking the serene ambiance. His words were met with nods and murmurs of agreement from the group. Kath smiled, touched by their sincerity.

"What about Blake, huh? You didn't miss him, Gin?" Jeno interjected with a mischievous grin, playfully teasing Gin. Kath chuckled softly, knowing well the underlying tension between Gin and Blake. Their past disagreements had been more than evident, leaving a trail of unease whenever they were in the same vicinity.

Gin's expression shifted slightly, his eyes narrowing for a moment before he relaxed into a grin, mirroring the teasing tone. "Oh, you know how it is," he replied, his voice light despite the history between them. The group erupted in laughter, the tension diffusing into the night air.

Around the crackling bonfire, amidst shared stories and the gentle glow of camaraderie, Kath felt a profound sense of gratitude. These were not just colleagues anymore; they had become her friends, weaving their way into the fabric of her life with each shared moment. As the flames flickered and the laughter echoed into the night, Kath knew that this gathering would be a memory she would cherish—a testament to the bonds forged beyond the confines of the workplace.

As the laughter subsided, Kath, ever the peacemaker, sensed the lingering tension and decided to lighten the mood further. "Hey, what about a game?" she suggested, her voice cutting through the night air with a playful lilt.

Jeno, always quick with a quip, chimed in almost immediately, his tone teasing yet affectionate. "Yeah, but not that riddle thing you like. That's just for the intellectuals," he teased, earning another round of chuckles from the group. Kath rolled her eyes playfully, knowing Jeno's penchant for poking fun at her love for brain teasers.

"Okay, fair enough," Kath conceded with a mock sigh, her smile widening as she glanced around at her friends. "Any other suggestions then?" she asked, genuinely curious about what they might come up with.

Blake, who had been relatively quiet until then, spoke up with a hint of mischief in his voice. "Yeah, Jeno, you could suggest something," he said, his tone inviting Jeno to contribute to the evening's entertainment.

Jeno grinned, clearly pleased to be included in the decision-making process. "Alright, how about a round of charades?" he proposed, his eyes twinkling with anticipation. The idea seemed to resonate with the group as nods and murmurs of agreement followed.

And so, under the starlit sky and the flickering glow of the bonfire, they embarked on a game of charades, each taking turns to act out scenes and guess the answers amidst fits of laughter and playful banter. As the night wore on, any lingering tensions melted away, replaced by the simple joy of friendship and shared moments.

The one who could not answer will have to drink a glass of wine. That's the rule of the game and everyone cooperates and have fun since it is their day off of the busy world in the city. Jeno arranged it for everybody aside from missing his bestfriend Blake.
