As Argos arrives into the shrine he can immediately see the statue which somewhat resembling Argos's face.
"Why are you so late Argos?" Argos's mother who's name is Rachel scolds Argos and hugs him before Argos has a chance to retort. Her young appearance and silver hair betraying her true age.
"Now go to your father you will get your Spiritual roots tested." Racheal says as she fixes Argos's disheveled hair.
Argos again runs to his father to save as much time as possible as he was just getting to the good parts of the book before he got interrupted. His silver hair and black eyes giving his an appearance befitting a noble.
"Father I apologise for being late." Argos says as he reaches a young looking man with dark hair, black eyes and the most striking feature being the two long horns on his head. Argos's father aeres nods and directs him towards the statue with his hands.
The shrine filled with only his parents and elder sister is illuminated by the red light shining on he statue. As Argos arrives in front of the statue the light slowing begins to glow on him and a colourless orb appears out of thin air.
Argos places his hand on the orb after which he feels as if something is being gathered in his hand. The orb slowly turn into a pitch dark colour with a symbol im white depicting the heavens etched into it.
"hahaha, a high grade spiritual roots. Good,Good,Good. You did not disappoint me. Take this key and go to the celestial library to choose a scripture." Aeres says with an evil grin on his face.
Spiritual roots in this world can be divided into 6 tiers - false,inferior,lower,middle,high,peak. Spirituals roots are divided based on their qualities and purity with false being the lowest and peak being the highest.The higher the grad he higher the strength. There are usually only one Spiritual root in a mortals body any more would cause disturbance in the equilibrium as the effects brought by the qi clash and destroy the body. Ofcourse there is a way to cultivate with more than one Spiritual roots but one must harmonise the qi produced into a unified qi which requires a.ot of attention and greatly slows down cultivation speed as the cultivator can't fulfill the requirements increase as cultivation reaches higher realms. Their strength however is dependent on the qi brought about by unification but the lowest power it would display is from that of a middle grade spiritual roots.
The emperor of the maverick empire and Argos's father can be said to have only a middle grade spiritual roots. This grade would be worth nothing to the cultivation sects as they get tens of such disciples but in the mortal world it cam be said to be the highest an empire could have.
By giving him the keys to the celestial library Argos's father can be said to have made he choice for him to stay in the empire and inherit it. The demon empire might not be comparable to the cultivation sects in power or inheritance of all cultivation methods but when it comes to the destruction darkness and evil scriptures most will not be able to rival it. So it might not necessarily be a bad thing for Argos.
As for why it hasn't been stolen? Well t is naturally because the ancestors of the Demon Race have combined the luck within these scriptures into the Demon Race. This has caused the Demom race to get some protection in its inheritance as the Heavenly dao protects the demons despite despising it as the laws of the world require equilibrium to function with its full might. That is not to say the Demon Race or another race cannot be eradicated but rather it being an inconvenience as the strength of the heavenly dao would decreases drastically bringing about great consequences o the perpetrators.
Now Argos can be said to be the hope of the empire because while high grade spiritual roots can be said to be rare in the world of hundreds of millions there is naturally bound to be many with even the same level of spiritual roots which is he case with sylvana. But while the grades match the attributes don't as attributes corresponding to the colour blacks qualities are hard to find. Even with the increased chance of destruction and darkness atrritubutes due to the inherent qualities of the Demon Race the suppression by the heavenly dao has greatly reduced the chances for it. As for sylvana she has ice attribute which causes red flags in the mind of Argos who is familiar with the plot of the ice jade beauty.
