Chapter 21 - A new life

Lady Hansen threw the items off her desk, Gabby rushing over to check her hands and make sure she didn't have any cuts.

"Dammit!" She exclaimed angrily.

Gabby gulped as she picked up the letter that had fallen onto the floor.

"What should I do with this?" Gabby asked fearfully.

"Burn it! Obviously!" Lady Hansen yelled.

She nodded quickly and put it on the flame of a candle, letting burn on the floor.

"Lilith wasn't even punished, a maid was killed and she wasn't even put on probation!" She exclaimed as she sat down.

"Yes…it's good news that our accomplice didn't get caught, but my lady, what if they do get caught?" Gabby asked nervous.

"Ha! Whoever is helping us, is a high ranking person in the Allard home, no one can get ahold of the family crest that easy." Lady Hansen said.

Gabby sighed, her master was always too relaxed when things like this happened.

"It could be the duchess for all we know. Literally everyone knows she was against the arranged marriage to the Grimrose bitch, even Vincent fought against it even though he's so kind…" lady Hansen said she sighed enamored.

"It should have been you my lady, you're so smart and elegant, you are perfect for Vincent." Gabby said sweeping up the ashes.

Lady Hansen smirked. "Of course, we were made for each other, I bet even he knows that….wait…what if it's Vincent! It would make the most sense! He hates Lilith the most!" Lady Hansen said excitedly.

"That would be great my lady…" Gabby said, she was concerned her master was getting too excited and would have her heart broken.

"In the letter it said Thalia was getting better because Lilith told the Allards what to do, it said that just with her looking at the poison she knew which plants were used." Lady Hansen said, deep in thought.

Gabby started to get out paper and quills, since Lady Hansen was surely going to write another letter to the cloaked person.

"This time we need to make sure Lilith is the target." She said smiling.

"Damn! I lost again!" Odette said throwing her hands in the air. Lilith laughed, she truly was Yukis past life, the way she raised and eyebrow and poked out the tip of her tongue when she concentrated was a face she had gotten accustomed to.

"You need to relax, don't get so tense, and your hands are shaking so much i'm surprised you lasted as long as you did." Lilith said.

Odette sighed as she leaned back into the chair, watching Lilith rebuild the tower.

"Okay, what is something you can't do?" Odette asked.

"You know, i've never been good at playing instruments, and I can't kill flies or mosquitos, they are my worst enemies, no matter how hard I try to catch them or swat them, I just seem to never get them." She said.

Odette laughed. "That's so dumb."

"No, dumb is when I accidentally ate Dilly's treats at my wedding by accident." She said laughing. Her face immediately turning to one of surprise when she saw Odette stop laughing and looking at her with wide eyes.

"That was you! This whole time I was wondering what kind of maniac would eat a dog treat and you were right in front of me!" Odette said as she laughed loudly.

Lilith turned red but couldn't hold back her laughter.

They had tears coming out of their eyes as they held their stomachs.

"Oh I feel like this baby's gonna pop out…" Odette said as she caught her breath.

Lilith smirked, she finished building the tower back up.

"Okay, you go first.." Lilith said.

Odette made her concentrated face, lightly tapping each block to see which one was loose. When she found one she smiled in triumph and slowly pulled it out.

"Ha! I got it." She said, placing it on top of the tower.

Lilith went next, pulling a block and placing it on top. Tatsu was watching them play from his fluffy bed, Lilith knew he would be jumping all over them so she gave him a deer bone to entertain himself.

They continued until Lilith sneezed, the tower fell and Odette exclaimed in excitement.

"Ugh I lost.." Lilith said, smiling at Odettes little victory dance, so identical to how Yuki celebrated winning a game.

A bittersweet feeling pooled inside if, she was so happy to find Yukis past life, but if she gets stuck here forever, she'll never be able to see Yuki ever again and the memories they had would just fade away one day.

"You look sad…is it because you lost?" Odette said gently poking at her arm.

Lilith scoffed. "You lost many times before me." She teased.

Odette rolled her eyes as she smirked. "Come on, just let me celebrate my win." She crossed her arms and sighed.

"Just tell me." Odette said raising an eyebrow at Lilith expectantly.

Lilith looked at her pensively. "Well, a few days ago someone poisoned Thalia and tried to frame me…" Lilith said.

She was on edge since she was on month five, she now had seven months to reveal the person doing this to her.

"What?" Odette asked confused.

"Yeah, since they weren't able to completely blame me they decided to mark the case as inconclusive." Lilith said.

Odettes anger was obvious on her face. "Who keeps doing these things to you? Do you have any idea?" Odette asked.

Lilith looked up at the ceiling, the thing was, she did have an idea who did the recent incident. Lady Hansen, ever since the kidnapping she kept Lady Hansen in mind, it wasn't beyond her to play with peoples lives, however, she was also not smart enough to infiltrate and cause it herself. She had inside help, and as much as they tried to hide Cassies death, Lilith found out on her own.

"My guess…she saw the culprit and they killed her before she grew the balls to expose them…" Lilith thought.

Odette tapped her hand, making her come back from her deep thought.

"Any idea who?" Odette asked.

"No…" Lilith lied, smiling sadly as she leaned back, there was absolutely no way she was going to drag Odette into this.

Odette furrowed her brows as she looked down at her belly, placing a hand on it.

"Even if she knew she wouldn't tell me..especially now…why does she have to be so damn protective…" Odette thought.

Ophelia opened the door, looking at Odette.

"My lady, it is time." Ophelia said bowing deeply.

Odette bounced up and hugged Lilith.

"Sorry I have to go, Henry comes home soon and I want to tell him about the pregnancy." Odette said.

"Yeah, thank you for coming, I had a lot of fun.." Lilith said.

Odette waved as she left, leaving Lilith alone. She looked at the tower, a few pieces slightly out of place, she began patting it to make them be completely in place.

The door squeaked as it opened more, she looked quickly and saw Cyrus staring at her.

She glared at him, feeling betrayed and hurt, sneered at him and turned back to the tower.

"What is that?" He asked, ignoring her hostile greeting.

"A game." She said.

"What kind of game?" He asked, sitting in front of her.

"You have to pull out blocks without making the tower fall, whoever makes it falls loses." She said in a monotone voice.

"Can I try?" He asked.

Anger continued to well up inside her. "Okay." She said.

She demonstrated how to play, and he surprisingly had a steady hand, she felt challenged for the first time. However he still managed to drop the tower first.

With an expressionless face she began rebuilding, he watched quietly.

"You know…even though I genuinely thought you poisoned Thalia, deep down I was hoping it wasn't you.." he said suddenly.

She broke, hitting the tower and making some of the pieces fly at his face. Tears of frustration welled up in her eyes, the blocks now scattered all over the floor.

"I thought we were getting along…" she said looking into his eyes for the first time since that day.

She could tell he was holding back from blowing up himself, she knew she was in the wrong for breaking down first.

"I'm sorry.." he said through gritted teeth. "I know it will sound like an excuse, but whenever anything had to do with Thalia, I just, can't control myself…" he said.

Silence flooded the room, it was just them staring into each other's eyes, searching for anything.

"I'll forgive you." She said, grinding her teeth.

"You don't seem very convincing about that." He said.

She stood up, looking down at him with hurt in her eyes.

"I need time to cool off, and you need to find a way to make it up to me." She said.

Cyrus nodded, gulping as he played with his collar.

"I will find a way." He said.

She sighed. "Okay." She said and walked out. Her eyes red and burning, dry tears on her cheeks as she was rushing towards her room.

There was slight noise coming from the office she works with Sebastian in, she opened the door slowly as she peaked in.

His handsome face stern as he stamped and signed papers, he noticed someone watching him and when he saw her, he jumped up.

A confused and concerned look on his face.
"Are you alright?" He asked as he moved away from his desk.

She walked in fully and the door clicked behind her, the tiredness finally catching up to her once again.

"I'm tired.." she said as tears welled up in her eyes again.

His eyes widened, and he awkwardly looked around the room, he wasn't someone people usually went to cry to and he had no idea what to do.

Her eyes looked at him expectantly as she sniffed, he cleared his throat and opened his arms hesitantly. She ran up to him and hugged him tightly, crying into his chest.

He started petting her hair softly, trying to be as affectionate as he could.

"Why do you say you are tired?" He asked.

"I can't catch a break…it's just thing after thing…and I always get the blame…" she said through her sobs.

"That's true….I wonder why…you are so kind…" he said. He was in charge of watching her and reporting everything back to the duke. So far, all he saw from her was kindness, to everyone, and that she actively avoided being near Thalia.

He understood why, every time something happened she was first to be accused, and Lilith was cautious enough to try and avoid it.

"Do you want to talk about it? Or do you need to cry?" He asked.

She stayed quiet, taking comfort in his earthy and spicy cologne, with a hint of sweetness hidden in it. It reminded her of her walks in the garden, calming her down a bit as she rubbed her cheek on his chest.

They stayed that way for a while, silently holding each other, becoming familiar with each other's embrace.

"There is nothing to report sir, Lady Lilith had Odettes company this afternoon for a few hours and she went back to her room." Sebastian said.

The duke grunted as he signed paperwork, Vincent scoffed.

Sebastian side eyed him, confused. Vincent was crossing his arms and looking at him with resentment.

He didn't know how to react and chose to ignore it, bowing out of respect and exiting the room.

Vincent glared at him as he left, offended and wounded.

He had heard some strange noises coming from Sebastians and Liliths office, peaking through a small crack on the door he saw them in a tight embrace.

It would make sense if they were having an affair, they were together more often than him and Lilith. Sebastian, although stoic always had a way with women, a lot of maids had to be fired because they were stalking or making moves on Sebastian.

Vincent thought Sebastian was a eunuch, since he never had interest in neither women nor men. Always buried in books in paperwork, and Vincent did not want Sebastian getting an interest in Lilith and taking advantage of her innocence.

He felt a weird pressure in his chest, and he was restless, tapping his foot aggressively and teeth nipping at the inside of his mouth.

The duke slammed his hands on his desk.

"Get out! You're making me nervous!" He said, looking at Vincent with an upset look on his face.

Vincent left the documents on the coffee table and exited the room.

He hovered outside the door for a few minutes, trying to decide which way to go, the feeling in his chest overtook him and he headed to Lilith's room.

"She better have a good explanation." He thought.

Lilith scratched her ear. "Is someone talking about me?" She thought.

Tatsu scratched at the door and looked at her with his large, begging, puppy eyes and she opened the door for him. He ran out and headed straight for the garden, she smiled as she went back to her coffee table.

Picking up her notes and journals to hide them again, she didn't want to forget anything she had on Lady Hansen.

She knelt down to place it in the hidden spot under the bed, satisfied with the notes she took.

The frustration from earlier had her feeling a little stiff, even though Sebastian had comforted her for almost an hour. She blushed as she remembered his warmth, his gentle aura reminded her of Miyanos calmness.

She started stretching, first reaching down to her toes keeping her legs straight a few times, midway the third time her door opened.

"Lilith." Vincents voice rang from behind her.

She looked at him worried. "What is it now?" She asked, already used to getting bad news everyday.

"Are you having an affair?" He asked closing the door. She scoffed, crossing her arms and looking at him with a raised brow.

"Excuse me? What do you mean?" She asked clearly confused.

"Don't play coy, since when are you and Sebastian so close?" He asked.

She smirked at the accusation.

"Were you spying on me?" She asked.

"No, I just happened to be passing by and I saw and Sebastian embracing each other." He said defensive.

She laughed, covering her mouth with her hand. "Are you…jealous?" She asked in disbelief.

"Just answer the question please." He said.

A loud silence filled the room, she stepped closer to him to look him in the eye.

"No, I am not having an affair." She said, she could see relief in his eyes, and his shoulders seemed to relax.

She smiled as her hands reached up to caress his face, her fingers tracing down his jawline and onto his neck. she lowered the collar to expose his neck and the hickey she left on him.

"I didn't think you would have any doubts about me in that way, but they do say that the one having an affair is usually the first to accuse. Are you cheating on me Vincent?" She asked softly, pressing her body against his softly.

His eyes were getting a little clouded, but he shook his head.

"No…i'm not..I would never…" he said, his eyes focusing on her lips.

"I know that…" she thought, after all he was the love interest that wanted to keep his body pure for Thalia, even if they never got together.

"So were you jealous?" She said in a whispered tone. Her lips lightly touching his, pulling away quickly to tease him. He followed her lips a little and looked at her almost desperately.

"No…." He said.

"Are you sure?" She asked, her hands going up to his hair, massaging through his scalp gently.

He gulped. "I don't know…" he said in a trance.

She smiled, deciding to drop the subject.
"Okay then." She said normally and let go of him.

He was ready to be kissed and he was surprised when she walked away from him.

The dress exposed her milky white shoulder blades, and her black hair slightly wavy, glowing purple where the sun hit it.

He stepped up to her and held her from behind, he breathed in her scent deeply and tightened his embrace. Rubbing his face into her neck, a smug smile crossed her face, he was easy to tease.

She grabbed his hands, pulling them up to cup her breasts, the gloves got in the way of him feeling her skin.

She removed him as he watched, still in a trance as she threw his gloves aside. She turned around to face him, his eyebrows were slightly furrowed in anticipation.

"Your hands are always so cold.." she said, her hands gently massaging them.

"Ever since I could remember….my hands have always been cold." He said.

She brought them back to her breast, squeezing, his eyes wide and he gulped.

"Go ahead, feel me.." she said.

With a shaky breath he obeyed, she put her hands down and he began to feel her body, going to her shoulders, back to her breasts, his thumbs accidentally scraped past her nipples when he went down to her waist.

She shuddered and goosebumps formed all over her.

"You can touch me too.." he said.

"Fuck yeah!" She thought excitedly, she was finally going to touch him after seeing all that eye candy for five months.

She went for his shoulders, feeling how his muscles moved, she moved down to his pecks, all the clothes he had to wear made her feel like she had a disadvantage.

Vincent had seen her naked multiple times and she still hasn't seen him shirtless up close. Her fingers began to unbutton his suit, he faltered a bit when he felt it, but let her continue.

She took off the first layer and pulled up the hem of his undershirt and he raised his arms to let her pull it off. Seeing him up close wasn't comparable to the few times she saw him training.

He watched her through hooded eyes, focusing on her touch, his breathing slowing down. Each touch of of hers made his blood rush and his heart jumped.

She smiled as she sat on the bed, pulling him close by the belt. He placed his hands on her shoulders, she leaned forward so she was inches away from his stomach.

She kissed his skin a couple times, leaving faint red marks on his white skin. His hands touched her hair, feeling its softness, when she stopped to look up at him with a sweet playful smile he couldn't take it anymore and he grabbed her waist, pulling her up.

She wrapped her arms around his neck and giggled, she was now able to look down at him. His lips suddenly clashed with hers, he couldn't feel anything but the desperation of tasting her.

They fell onto the bed, hands grabbing each other as they let themselves loose. The weight of his body on hers was comforting in a way, his groans making her want more.

Her nails scratched at his back, enough to leave red lines standing out from his pale flesh.

As they continued, she felt something poking her inner thigh, she turned her face to the side to separate from him, but he continued kissing her jaw.

His hands roughly grabbing her thighs was enticing her, she tried getting her hands under him so she could unbuckle his belt.

The suckling on her neck was a little distracting but she managed to unbuckle it, he stopped and looked at her with lust in his eyes.

His hands reached behind her and started untying the ribbon on the back of her dress to help her undress.

Between kissing and undressing their desperation grew, then the door swung open and Betty and Melinda walked in gasping and covering their eyes.

Vincent turned red, rushing to pick up his clothes, meanwhile Lilith laid on the bed staring at the ceiling in disappointment.

The girls giggled as they exited the room and closed behind them.

"I'm sorry…their not used to anyone being in my room…" She said.

The moment was ruined and Vincent was a bit awkward, she looked in mirror and fixed her lipstick.

"It's fine…" he said.

The word of his mother suddenly crossed his mind. She found him earlier and told him that Lilith might be wanting a child, she was so excited and happy about hearing Odettes pregnancy it almost seemed like she wanted the same for herself.

"I hadn't thought about that…i'm so selfish…she probably has her own wishes and dreams for her life and all I ever thought about was how I didn't want to get married…." He thought.

Lilith looked so calm and comfortable, she was humming as she fixed herself back up.

"I was thinking something…." He said.

She turned to give him her undivided attention.
"What is it?" She asked curiously.

"I wanted to know…do you…want children?" He asked.

Her eyes blew open and her lips got tight.

"Huh?" She said.

"Well…I was just wondering if it's something you want? Or something you don't.." he said.

She thought about it deeply.

"Do I want kids? The whole idea of it doesn't sound bad…I have always liked kids and imagined having a family…but here? With Vincent?" She thought.

"You don't have to answer if you're uncomfortable.." he said.

He looked almost scared of what she was going to say.

"To be completely honest with you…I love kids, when I was younger I always imagined I would marry the love of my life and have a family…" She said.

"Okay…" he said as he sat down on the window bench, not knowing how to feel about the fact she mentioned marrying the "love" of her life, but he didn't want to make himself upset by asking who she was thinking about when she said that.

"What about you Vincent?" She asked.

She already knew the answer, in the novel he wanted Thalia to have his children, and no one else. So she was sure he was going to say no.

"Well…I have thought about it.." he said.

She was shocked he didn't say no immediately, but she was sure it's because his mother told him they needed an heir.

"Well I don't think we need to have kids, the girls are already like daughters to me, and Cyrus is the firstborn so he is the one that needs to produce an heir." She said.

He was stunned by the statement, but she wasn't wrong, however his mother did want to be a grandmother already and she thinks they are having trouble conceiving, but she doesn't know they are both still virgins.

"Yeah…you're right…" he said.

If anybody found out they still haven't consummated the marriage, they could be easily separated by a quick annulment.

The thought of that made him sad since he felt like he was really starting to get along with her.

"I have to go, I forgot I had to do some paperwork for my father, i'll see you for dinner?" He said.

She nodded. "Yeah sounds great." She said.

Odette sat on the couch next to the fireplace, the excitement making her unable to keep calm. She kept standing up and sitting back down again taking deep breaths, imagining what Henrys face would look like.

The front doors finally opened and Henry walked in tired, he looked a little droopy and sat down on the couch. She sat next to him and kissed him quickly, he sighed content.

"I missed you all day…" he said, sniffing her hair.

She chuckled and leaned her head on his shoulder, his left arm resting on her shoulders as they relaxed into the couch.

"How was the meeting?" She asked.

"It was boring, all the men constantly trying to one up each other it's tiring…" he said.

"I bet, I would hate being surrounded by men that aren't you.." she said.

He scoffed. "I just need you, I know technically I could "live" without you, but that would be complete torture, even if I died and went to heaven, what good is it if you are not by my side." He said as he pecked her forehead.

She blushed heavily and covered her face, he laughed at how quickly she gets embarrassed.

Suddenly she stood up and nervously played with her fingers.

"You mean if "we" weren't by your side right?" She asked, putting her hand on her belly.

"We? Oh! You mean Dilly, of course, how could we leave that little guy behind." He said, smirking at her silliness.

She fought the urge to smack her forehead.

"You know, pretty soon, we might be hearing an extra two little feet running around the house…" she said, feeling her belly again.

His eyes widened in realization. "What? No, please don't tell me you want the monkey we saw at the market a few days ago." He said.

Her eye twitched and she chuckled in defeat.

"No. I'm pregnant!" She exclaimed.

"Oh…" he said, lying back.

Suddenly the blood drained from his face and his eye blew wide open.

"What!" He said jumping up.

She started laughing and he put his hands on his hair.

"I'm gonna be a father!" He said running up to her, picking her up and spinning her. His face returned to normal and his eyes got watery, their laughter mingling together.

"Yes! You fool!" She said through her laughter.

He put her down as they held each other in a warm loving embrace, tears running down their faces.

"You know what we should do now?" She asked, looking at him through hooded eyes.

"What?" He asked as kissed her forehead and cheeks.

"Celebratory sex." She said, running her fingers along his suit.

He looked at her shocked. "Won't that hurt the baby?" He asked.

"No." She said pulling him by the hand towards the stairs that led up to their room.

"Well then…little baby in there…watch your head." He said as he pulled her stronger, they ran up the stairs laughing, feeling full of love and happiness.
