Caius shifted uncomfortably. "I wasn't personally assigned to that task, Lord Argent."
"Of course not," Gabriel said. "You have more important matters to attend to... After all, aren't you Jessie's most trusted advisor?"
"Indeed… My lord…" Caius tensed.
"For the sake of clarity. I had never seen Sebastian Wells's face before the photograph was brought to me. Don't worry, I personally executed the man who was tasked with coordinating the monitoring operation."
"Fair enough," Gabriel said. "What steps is the Red Colossus Syndicate taking to locate him now?"
"Lord Crowe has placed me in charge of the operation, for starters," Caius said. "The situation became much more pressing, meaning he could leave it to me. My first action was to share our findings with the Blackfire Clan. I spoke directly with Lord Luttrell."
A visible shudder passed through Caius at the memory. Gabriel's lips quirked in a hint of a smile. "I imagine that was... an experience."
