Gabriel Argent stood by the window, his lean frame silhouetted against the fading light. His silvery hair, streaked with black, caught the last rays of the sun and stressed his sharp features.
His gray eyes looked over the city below. His face didn't show what he was thinking about, but it must have not been anything good given what he had just been told.
The room was silent save for the rustling of papers as Caius, the envoy from the Red Colossus Syndicate, shuffled through his documents.
Lyra, Gabriel's subordinate, stood in a corner without uttering a word.
"Tell me again," Gabriel said in a cold voice. "I want to hear this again."
Caius cleared his throat. "As I mentioned, Lord Argent, we believe his son awakened. He had been missing for some time now, and all points to this."
Gabriel turned from the window. If eyes could kill, Gabriel's for sure could do the deed. Caius was lucky this wasn't the case. "And Jessie is certain of this?"
