Chapter 175 - Expect the unexpected

Taking a deep breath, Sebastian focused even more and kept channeling his mana into the ballista's circuits.

The weapon thrummed with power, its mana-infused bolts ready to be unleashed.

The rune master knew this was his one chance—if the bolt missed or failed to inflict enough damage, the consequences would be catastrophic. Not that he cared, though.

There were many things Sebastian was, but for sure he wasn't a good samaritan.

He didn't feel attached to these people, even if he lived among them for months since he entered the Venquilar, and knowing they were nothing but the byproduct of this weird item, or of some unknown magic, made him even less attached.

All around him, the defenders on top of the walls kept raining arrows down, finding their marks on the flanks, backs and heads of the fleeing fangeds.

Sebastian caught a glimpse of Knight Leo, his blade flashing as he rallied his men and pushed them to scale the walls.
