Chapter 173 - Chaos at the walls

Two days had bled into a relentless nightmare. The once more or less pristine plains surrounding Plerg were now a churning sea of fangs, claws, and bodies.

The monstrous horde had arrived, a tide of snarling beasts driven by a primal hunger.

Panic, a suffocating presence just days ago, had morphed into a determination, and… hope…

That was because, despite everything, the walls held, the ballistas pierced, and the fangeds were killed.

Women, their faces streaked with grime and sweat, hauled crates of supplies towards the city walls.

Children, their eyes wide but dry, clasped to their parents' legs, clinging to a semblance of normalcy amidst the chaos.

Men, some seasoned warriors, and other ordinary citizens thrust into the role, sharpened blades, and readied whatever weapons they could find. Of course, women fought too.

A sense of unity, forged in the fires of desperation, bloomed amongst the defenders.
