The illusions multiplied and began rushing to the exit. Among them, Sebastian struggled to keep Kenway marching forward.

The echo revenant snarled and changed direction abruptly. Its hollow eyes seemed to gleam with a cunning realization—it had been chasing illusions this whole time.

The creature darted towards the largest cluster of illusions, those heading toward the exit, shooting clawed hands out to tear into the mirages. One by one, he attacked them all and understood they were fake.

The problem was that it had no way to understand what was real and what, not since Sebastian pumped a vast quantity of mana into them to make them look as real as possible.

Sebastian gritted his teeth and pumped more mana into maintaining the fake battalion. But the revenant was learning, picking off projections with swift efficiency.

It was awfully close to the real Sebastian and Kenway now, having determined that many of the copies were fake.
