Chapter 54 - First day in Paradise (1)

As the morning sun climbed higher, it found Sebastian wide awake. His first night in Somnium had been sleepless.

Despite the weariness tugging at his bones, the urgency to find a secure resting place in the savanna had kept him alert and awake. Not that he could sleep without one, actually.

The vast, open landscapes of the savanna, while breathtaking, offered little in terms of shelter, making safety a scarce luxury.

In front of him lay a vast expanse of grass and earth, a sprawling tapestry of plants that swayed gently in the warm breeze.

The landscape was dotted with acacia trees, their flat-topped canopies standing like silent sentinels over the sea of yellow and green.

In the expanse before him, the plains were eerily quiet, contrary to what one might expect in such a once fertile landscape.

No birds chirped, no insects buzzed; the savanna was enveloped in a deafening silence, suggesting a world abandoned by its usual inhabitants.
