While Alexander and Caitlin were making their way through one of the windows, Damien approached the front porch of the house, which stood in darkness, save for a light from the lower front rooms. No lamp was lit on the porch itself.
He knocked on the wooden door, waiting expectantly for it to be opened, but nobody came. Penny, who stood behind Damien, glanced upwards, looking for any movement behind the window curtains.
"They are aware of our presence," Penny whispered to him.
"That's an advantage. Simplifies matters, doesn't it?" Damien responded, pulling his gun from its holster and taking aim. It was then that they heard a woman's voice from behind them.
"What a violent man."
Penny quickly turned to see the white witch standing unguarded—or so it appeared until Penny noticed something gleaming near her sleeves. The woman had come armed.
