Chapter 16 - Not Your Regular Party

Jules' pov

When we drew closer to the corner we'd been heading to, was when the definition of the term special student finally clicked in my mind. My mouth fell open in awe as we drew towards the large building which stood out drastically.

Compared to the dorms, it was starkly obvious that this building wasn't a regular dorm.

"It's more like large, secluded apartments for each special students here." Josh explained as we stepped into the building after being let in by the guards at the gate.

I could see flickering lights from one of the floors in the building and I figured out that the party was being held there.

"How many special students are in this school?" I asked as we stepped into the elevator. If the elevator at our dorm was classy, then this one right here was something else entirely, from the interior design to the buttons on the elevator wall.

"Hm… I'd say about thirty." Taylor explained and I frowned in confusion.

"And they all live in this building? Isn't it too big for them?"

Josh snorted in amusement this time. "Not when they all live separately. They all do their own separate thing and they apparently need their spaces for that."

I glanced at the flickering numbers on the wall as the elevator moved upwards.

"What does this mean?" I asked while pointing at a red rocket shaped button on the wall.

"Oh, that's the highest floor, it belongs to Blaze." Taylor responded and I blinked at him in shock just as a shiver slid down my spine.

"He owns the entire floor?" I whispered and Taylor gave a soft nod. "Yeah, he does. Because of his… special case."

I frowned at Taylor but I didn't know what else to say, so I remained silent.

"Being a special student must be everything here then." I muttered after a few moments.

"Man, you have no idea." Josh mused as the elevator doors slid open and we all stepped out.

At once, we got swallowed up by loud music which made my head start to pound at once. The party lights were a little dim but I could still see everyone clearly.

The combined scents of so many people in the air at once made me wrinkle my nose in disgust. A quick glance around made an unimpressed feeling to settle in my guts.

I had low hopes for this party, but it managed to be even lower than my expectations.

Taylor grabbed my wrist and tugged me into the stream of crowd and my heart nervously hammered against my chest as I blinked followed him through.

A lot of people were holding a red colored cup in their hands which they were drinking from, and most of them were dancing rather provocatively with each other in such a way that made me feel like I was intruding on things I certainly shouldn't be witnessing right now, things which should certainly not be carried out in a public spaces!

Taylor finally stopped in front of a counter where he hastily accepted drinks from someone handling them out. I wrinkled my nose at the stench before a cup got handed to me.

"It's alcohol to loosen up." Taylor explained and downed his own drink in a single go, then he glanced at me while nodding at my untouched cup. "You drink alcohol, right?" He asked and I hastily nodded my head while forcing a smile on my face.

I forced myself to take a sip and a grimace settled on my face at once, one which I tried to mask with a laugh. Taylor giggled breathlessly before glancing around, everywhere which looked packed and frankly uncomfortable and I began to wonder just how people actually enjoy this.

This is certainly not a regular party.

"Let's go dance!" Taylor screamed through the noise and before I could object, I was being dragged down the middle of the large room where a lot of students were crowded on, in twos and threes, dancing provocatively against each other. My cheeks burned hotly and I tried not to stare at anyone when Taylor stopped at a point and threw his hands in the air excitedly.

"Isn't this fun?" He demanded as he began to dance, waist moving seamlessly like water and hands thrown in the air. I cleared my throat and tried to not stare at him too hard. Taylor was rong, this wasn't fun, it felt uncomfortable and I couldn't wait to leave.

Josh returned at a point and handed Taylor and I drinks. Taylor downed his own at once and continued to dance as Josh got lost in the crowd once again. Someone ended up whisking my drink from my grip at a point, which I didn't mind because I had no intention of drinking it.

When I blinked once, someone was dancing behind Taylor with his hands provocatively sliding across Taylor's bare waist. Taylor didn't seem to mind because he began to enthusiastically grind his hips against the stranger's. My cheeks burned and I awkwardly glanced around, wanting to be off this dance floor at once.

Compared to the sophisticated dance floor in all the balls and parties I've attended in my entire life, this was like the complete opposite.

I ended up informing Taylor I had to use the restroom because I wanted to be away from the dance floor already. It didn't seem like Taylor heard me over the loud noise but I didn't wait to check. I pushed through the dancing bodies and was about to escape the sea of sweaty, grinding bodies when a hand blindly shot out and grabbed my waist, causing my breath to stutter to a stop as I got pulled against a hard body.

My heart raced fast as another hand joined the first one around my waist. Admidst the mingled scents, in this close proximity, the dark scent of vampires filled my nose as I glanced up to meet the eyes of the person who had grabbed me.

He was a vampire. He wasn't the vampire who almost drowned me today at school, but he smelled equally dangerous. His fangs gleamed as he grinned down at me.

A chest pressed against up my back before I could speak and I almost fainted from fright, because in the next moment, the vampire who had just appeared behind me leaned down till his nose was grazing my ear.

"Isn't this the new student?" The one before me mused loudly as his hand slid around my waist even more.

"It really isn't him. Doesn't he smell so freaking good?" The one behind me asked and bile gathered in my throat when he kissed my ear.

"He really does. Malachi was right." He drawled.

My heart raced as I quietly swore underneath my breath.

Just what the hell have I gotten myself into tonight?
