Chapter 28 - The Initiation

Jules' pov

The leader was an omega who was clearly aware of how good looking he is. His eyes twinkled as he stared into my eyes, his smile widening as he tugged me even closer until our noses lightly brushed against each other's. I felt nervous, so nervous that I couldn't breathe, nor could I make my mouth move.

The leader let out a breathy giggle after a few seconds. "What was I thinking? Of course you wouldn't be able to properly think while being this close to me, isn't that right?" He crooned in amusement before his grip disappeared from my shirt and I backed away at once, sucking deep breaths into my lungs.

The leader let out another string of laugh as he slowly got to his feet.

It was like he was physically glowing, his eyes were a deep green color and it reflected the bright lights perfectly. His lips were shiny, probably due to some gloss. He smelled so sweet that it made my stomach twist a little as his scent clogged my nose up for a few seconds. He looked quite innocent, unlike the two omegas who had brought me here who were tall, he was quite short, but not as short as I was. If I hadn't had that little encounter with him moments ago, I wouldn't have believed that he could pull off something like that if I heard it from someone else.

"Jules, right?" He finally inquired just as one of the previous two omegas came to stand behind him, a large book and a pen in hand.

I cleared my throat, feeling extremely uncomfortable after that weird encounter with their leader.

"Yeah." I mumbled.

The leader regarded me closely, all traces of playfulness gone from his face.

"Can you turn around a little? A slow spin would do just fine." He spoke up after a few moments and I felt myself slowly tensing up.

"Uh, why?" I breathed out.

The leader flashed a smile at me. "No actual reason, gorgeous. Give me a spin now, will you?"

I wanted to refuse but because I wanted this to be over as fast as possible, I was quick to spin around.

"Petite, slim waist, doll-like features…" the leader rapped out while the tall omega scribbled something down. I felt myself growing tenser, right before what Taylor said resurfaced in my mind about this fraternity pimping out some of their omegas.

"So, honey… do you know what this fraternity is all about?" The leader asked as he closed the distance between us. From the side of my eyes, I noticed the tall omega walking away with his large book and pen.

I wanted to honestly respond to that question, to tell him that I was aware that they do pimp out their omegas, but I refrained from doing that because I wasn't sure if it was gonna be a reasonable move, and so I shook my head.

"It's about helping every omega understand their worth. We know how every omega out there were brought up to believe that the predators class are superior to those who belonged to the prey category, we all had to grow up with that stigma, like a stamp on our heads, you can relate to that, can't you?"

I blinked once before nodding fast. "Uh, yeah." I mumbled even though I wasn't sure of what he was saying. I wasn't an omega, nor a werewolf, so of course I don't understand the entire thing he was talking about.

"Which was why this fraternity was formed, to create a safe space for every prey in this school. Separately, as an omega, you're regarded as a prey to the predators… but as a group, you're seen as a threat, which is why every omega here in the school needs to be here, because we're just looking out for y'all, it's for you own good, to protect you from vile alphas here in this school, amongst so many other things."

Everything this omega was saying sounded like a flat lie. As soon as I arrived in this school, I started getting bullied by alphas. If this fraternity was really what he was claiming it was, then I really wouldn't have been bullied over and over again by alphas of various breeds.

But I nodded my head in understanding and that clearly pleased the leader, telling by his warm, wide smile that made his face glow even more.

"You can call me Kim, by the way." He continued and I nodded once again. He was currently steering me towards the entrance of the large room.

"Let's get on with your initiation then, I'm sure you already know what it entails." He breathed out before giving me a side, suggestive look, which further worsen my nerves.

"We don't usually get new students in this school, as you must definitely already be aware of, and when we do get a few new students, most of them are usually alphas in the predators category, so we don't get to initiate and welcome new members into this fraternity as much as we'd all like. That's certainly why a lot of the fraternity members are excited for your initiation tonight, because it's pretty fun to watch, don't you think so?"

He wiggled his brows at the end of his sentence, and that made my heart tumble into my stomach. I cleared my throat after that, stomach knotting up even more.

"About that… um, can I skip it?" I asked after a moment's hesitation. "I don't do well around crowds."

The leader– Kim, flashed me a grin before settling his hand around my shoulders.

"Honey, you can't skip the ritual though. Don't look at the rest of the fraternity members as a crowd, they're more than that, they're about to become your family, your brothers by choice and at heart, so performing this ritual in their presence will make us all connected with each other even more."

I wanted to tell him that he was just spewing a bunch of bullshit but the large door was being pulled open and in the next moment, a spotlight shined down on us, and a loud applause along with cheers was going through the crowd in the next moment.
