As the taxi stop at the front of the office building, Alex gazed out the front window scanning the entrance. Suddenly her eyes stooped on someone. A familiar figure stood at the entrance, chatting with the security guard. She tried hard trying to place his face.
"It was him. The witness who had testified against her in court. The one who had sworn that she was the one who pushed Jane off the building. Alex eyes narrowed as she watched the man enter the building her hands gripping her bag. 'What was he doing here?' She quickly paid the taxi driver and stepped out onto the sidewalk. Without hesitation, she strode towards the entrance pushing through the door and silently followed the man
Almost too late, the man took the elevator while Alex took the stairs, running frenzingly leaving the other workers coming through, speechless. The elevator door opens to the last floor where Victor's Reg and Alex's Office was situated. Reaching the top of the stairs with short breaths, Alex searched around until her eyes locked again on the man walking sharply to Victor's office. As the witness halted in front of Victor's office door, he glanced furtively left and the right. After making sure the coast was clear, he clampsed his hand and made a rough knock on the door.
(What is he doing here and what's the connection between him and Victor) Alex thought to herself
Alex wasn't able to hear what the person inside said but after a second the witness opened the door and entered the office giving Alex a chance to quickly run to the door to eavesdrop on heir conversation .
As the witness entered the office, he met Victor gloriously sitting behind his desk scanning through what he calls a file, document, review whatever he was not interested. "I..."
"You can drop it on the desk there, my secretary will go through it" victor said without looking up. "Hmmm before you go, can you get me a cup of america....." Victor paused as he was shocked to see who he did not expect.
"Luke? What are you doing here?" He asked his voice low and cautious.
luke smirked wryly "i can't believe there is a man desiring a cup of Americano when someone is trying hard to get a bottle of cold water in this hot weather"
"What do you need?. Is anyone with you. Were you followed?" Victor asked looking straight at the door.
"If i was followed would i still be save standing here comfortably?" Luke's voice was filled with sarcasm
"You can't be too sure. Speak luke i don't want anyone to recongnise you coming here specifically visiting me. Luke you know she works here, why are you putting things closed on a thin line?"
"Very well, i will go straight to the point. I need some money"
Victor's eyes narrowed."what for? What about the one i paid you"
"You know that could barely sustain me for two months. My daughter needs surgery. I don't have enough money to cover the costs"
Victor leaned back in his chair, steepling his fingers together"i am afraid i am not in the position to lend you money"
Luke's face darkened "you didn't say you weren't in the position when you paid me to make a false testament against Alexa in the first place. You owe me victor"
Alex quickly covered her mouth not to make a squeak out of shock.
Victor's expression turned cold, his voice filled with warning "i'd advise you to be careful of what you say, luke. You don't want to compromise...our agreement"
Luke sneered "our agreement? You mean the one where you paid me to ruin an innocent woman's life?. I am not afraid of you victor. It won't take me up to day to spill the truth"
Victor's face paled as he realized that like was not bluffing. He would definitely spill the truth if pushed.
With a forced smile "hey chill. You don't have to take it that far" he gently opened his drawer and was about to pick a thick envelope when a knock was heard on the door.
