Chapter 7 - Unexpected

A room is cluttered with sheets of paper. Windows that were tightly closed with curtains until only darkness reigned in the room. And in one corner of the room, three people were busy with their activities.

The woman with wavy brown hair kept her head down. Her slightly messy hair covered her face.

"Madam, there should be no bowing. Please straighten your gaze," a servant said with a smirk. Instead of gently brushing her mistress' hair, she pulled so hard that Elara's face looked up.

"Akh! Let go! This hurts."

The two servants stared at each other for a while. Their grins widened as they pulled their mistress' hair again.

"Get out! Get out!"

Elara's yell made the two servants stop their devious actions. They bowed their heads for a moment and left. They left the woman sitting huddled on the chair alone. Swallowed by the darkness and the noise inside her head.

Both hands were raised, hitting her head hard. Slowly the slow tempo turned into a very fast one. She wanted to break her noisy head right now.

"Stop it! Stop it! Don't be noisy! Argghh!" Elara rose to her feet and threw away all the items on the dressing table. As soon as she looked back, the other Elara she couldn't see was transfixed with a surprised expression.

"Why am I here? Is this part of the original Elara's memory?" thought the Elara who had been occupied by Arabella's soul.

The original Elara's state was very bad. She fell into a deep abyss of depression. Empty eyes sprinkled with a bit of anger there, traces of dried tears on her cheeks covered by other tears, puffy eyes, and messy hair.

"No, stop!" she shouted as she saw the real Elara reach for a knife in the fruit basket and slice her wrist. She tried to stop the real Elara's actions, but her hand went through and could not touch her. She was here as a spirit.

The real Elara's fall onto the floor in a pool of blood was the last sight Elara saw. The room around her suddenly became a blurry gray accompanied by tornado winds. Her eyes widened, and she tried to move away but the tornado had sucked her body in.

"Aw!" cried Elara as her butt slapped against the hard ground. She rose to her feet, patting her dirty hands.

"I remember that I fell asleep again after receiving the system missions. Is this my subconscious?" muttered Elara as she began to walk around. Here there was only a vast expanse of flowers. Elara felt that this place seemed to have no end.

A pat on the shoulder made Elara jump in surprise and immediately turned around. The second wave of shock came to Elara. She was knocked down when she saw the person in front of her right now.

The same body shape and form. She was Elara's original soul. Her soul was glowing and transparent enough to show that she had died.

"It is I who has summoned you to take over my body. You're a vengeance-filled soul, you're the perfect candidate to avenge me. Please help, Bella." After saying that, the real Elara floated higher and higher and her body became transparent and disappeared. After that, everything went dark.

"Hah... Hah..." Elara woke up from her sleep with a strong jolt. She cast her gaze around and let out a deep breath. She was back in this room, Elara's room in the Winterbourne residence.

"Did the real Elara's soul come to me earlier? It wasn't just a dream, was it?" Elara wiped her sweat-soaked forehead and neck with a tissue.

"So the reason I got a second chance is because I'm a vengeance-filled soul? There's nothing wrong with that, but to say it directly offends me a little."

Elara flicked her palm in the air. "Forget about it. I am indeed a stubborn and vengeful person. Everyone who knew me when I was Arabella says the same thing."

"There's something more important than that."

"Status window. Missions."

Elara's index finger played with her chin. She was thinking so hard that her eyebrows came together. Paying close attention to every word written in the missions settings. And then came the moment when Elara's attention centered on the 2nd point.

2. Get likes from the three male candidates who hate you! (0/3)

>> Details

"Details."

Elara's round eyes emitted a twinkle of amazement. Her hand stretched out to cover her slightly parted lips.

"A very modern system. They even displayed the faces of the three male candidates. Even if they say that this system is a job in the afterlife, I'll believe it," Elara murmured, starting to drift off.

"The three of them are very handsome. Their faces can compete with that bastard husband's."

The first male candidate: was Jasper Montgomery, owner of the Redwood Realty company that had long competed with Asher Winterbourne's Azure Aviation.

The second male candidate: is Atticus Sawyer, a lawyer who is known as a tie-breaker because he specializes in divorce cases. He works under the law firm Fisher Law Group.

Third male candidate: Nathaniel Hayes, a college senior who actively participates in two organizations, Delta Gamma Sorority and Sigma Chi Fraternity. Warning! He is gay.

Elara was lost in thought when she read that last sentence. She was like sugar in a stirred coffee drink. Swirling around in the current of confusion that engulfed her mind.

"I thought the third candidate was the easiest male candidate for me to seduce because he was just a campus senior. I didn't think that he was gay." She raised her hand to her head and ruffled her hair.

"How do I seduce someone who isn't even interested in women? System, you're so cruel to me. Are you telling me to straighten out the turns?" Elara looked up at the status window, and of course, there was no answer from there.

Elara spent a few minutes pensive. Her hand moved to correct the position of the pillow. She leaned her tired back against it. Her brain had done enough work for today, and if she didn't stop, her head would burn.

"I'll decide how after seeing the third candidate in person."

Elara's gaze fell on her stomach. "I need to shed all this fat if I want to move freely and seduce a man. In this world, looks are the first thing to be judged. I'm sure, with a pretty face and perfect body shape, the winding road will be easy enough to walk."

"I've already made up my mind. I'll try hard to go on a diet!"
