"Mmm..." he pondered for a moment and slowly sat down in front of me. A muscular Flying Corpse Monster quickly darted over and crouched behind him, serving as his seat just as he was about to sit down.
I lifted my face again, and even though he had sat down, he still towered over me. He was looking down at me, his expression calm. He extended his massive, sharp claws toward me, palm facing up, stopping in front of me, as if wanting to shake hands.
I looked at it and slowly extended my hand. In the sparkling electric light, I placed my small hand in his massive palm. His hand was large, making mine appear small, like a baby's hand in an adult's hand.
Suddenly, a faint white light appeared in the palm of his hand. I was somewhat surprised, but in the next moment, I felt something entering my mind. This feeling was strange, indescribable, like a gust of wind brushing across my brain, making my mind feel empty.
Suddenly, scenes of when I first met Second Sister appeared before my eyes. The images were so clear, like sitting in a movie theater, watching a huge screen in front of me. Those scenes related to Second Sister played rapidly, as if on fast forward.
The palm of Flying Corpse King's hand continued to emit white light. Amidst the faint white light and the quickly passing images, I vaguely saw Flying Corpse King's white eyes glowing like moonstones. The glow gradually disappeared, he blinked his eyes, and then he withdrew his hand, nodding at me.
My emotions became excited; he understood. Just now, it must have been some kind of telepathic ability. He saw the recent situation of Second Sister in my mind.
"Rumble..." The distant thunder gradually receded. After seeing the images in my mind, Flying Corpse King became restless. He sat on the back of that Flying Corpse Monster, scratching his knees with his hands. Having seen Second Sister's situation, he was anxious for his child. Restlessly, he stood up, pacing in front of me for a while, and then sat down again, resembling Jessie's husband waiting anxiously outside the delivery room.
"Hiss." Suddenly, my communicator rang—it was Noah City's communicator. Flying Corpse King immediately looked at me, his face showing a hint of nervousness.
"It's my communicator." I immediately took it out to show Flying Corpse King, who relaxed his guard and stared at me intently. The communicator had a small screen, resembling early cell phones with keyboards, but thicker, like a military satellite phone. It had many functions, such as the map positioning of Noah City, guiding me to prevent getting lost in the similar corridors of Noah City."Yvette!" Edmund's face appeared on the screen, "Second sister is okay!" He shouted excitedly, his face filling the entire screen. "I succeeded! My potion succeeded!"
"Hmm?" Flying Corpse King immediately leaned in! Second sister seemed to be very important to him. Could Second sister be his wife? And the baby in Second sister's belly, wasn't that the little prince!
"Ah!" Edmund was suddenly startled, falling to the ground. I immediately said to him, "Flying Corpse King is coming to pick up Second sister! Notify everyone to withdraw, quickly bring out Second sister!"
After my urgent shout, Edmund still stared at the screen, stunned like a frightened white mouse, frozen in place.
"Quick!" I shouted again. Edmund's shocked eyes suddenly snapped back to reality, and he hurriedly stood up, "Ah! Yes, yes!" Edmund frantically turned off the communicator.
I looked at Flying Corpse King, "Second sister and the little prince are both okay. You can go pick her up now." There was a tinge of reluctance and loss in my heart; Second sister was leaving, going back home...
Flying Corpse King immediately stood up and walked briskly towards the direction of Noah City. However, after a few steps, he stopped and waved his hands to both sides. Immediately, the Flying Corpse Monster that had been lying in front of me raised its arm.
Before I could understand what was happening, another Flying Corpse Monster picked me up and gently placed me on the raised arm of the first Flying Corpse Monster. Then, the Flying Corpse Monster stood up, and I felt like I was sitting on a suddenly elevated chair, instinctively grabbing onto a secure spot – the ears of that Flying Corpse Monster.
The Flying Corpse Monsters at the front, forming the tent, began to move to both sides, transforming the circular tent into a semi-circular one. Their massive wings still spread out, shielding us from the rain. The entire procession started moving forward in an orderly manner in the pouring rain, avoiding stepping on each other.
The Flying Corpse Monster carrying me ran briskly in front of Flying Corpse King, waving its arms as if clearing the way for him. The Flying Corpse Monsters in the front made way, and even those who couldn't get up in time hurriedly crawled away. In the sound of the pouring rain, you could hear the sticky footsteps of the Flying Corpse Monsters stepping on wet soil and debris.
As the Flying Corpse Monsters hastily retreated, Emery and the others, clutching their stomachs in discomfort, appeared in front. Seeing another group of Flying Corpse Monsters approaching, Bill was about to speak again, and I immediately shouted, "Shut up, Bill!"Bill was momentarily stunned, lifting his face in the lightning and finally seeing me. His expression relaxed slightly, but his breathing remained rapid, as if the tension from earlier made it difficult for him to immediately ease his strained nerves.
Dominic supported the uncomfortable Celeste in front of the city gate. Edwina and Shia walked out, helping each other, looking disheveled even though they hadn't experienced the intense battle. Emery was hunched over in discomfort, and William, Kerry, and Lindsay were behind Bill, holding their stomachs as they approached us. Bernice, still supporting Bill's shoulder, was recovering slowly. She was closest to Bill when his power was activated. Though Bill clearly intended to protect her, his ability caused indiscriminate harm, and even allies couldn't escape his formidable force.
The massive thunderclouds slowly moved away from above us, taking away the thunder and rain. The night sky became fresh, with scattered black clouds lingering above us like forgotten children. A silver moonlight peeked through the clouds, casting its glow on the city gate of Noah City, as if opening a door of hope in the dark night.
High above, seated on the arm of the Flying Corpse Monster, I looked down at everyone. Emery took a deep breath, raising his face toward me in the moonlight. However, the moment he saw me, his expression froze. The moonlight illuminated his dazed face, making his amber eyes and gaze appear misty.
I looked at Dominic, who smiled approvingly and nodded.
Celeste sighed with relief, and Joey, leaping down from the sky, excitedly ran toward everyone. "We're back! Everything is fine!"
The Flying Corpse Monster carrying me slowly lowered me, making way for its figure to step back. Before I could speak, the heavy footsteps sounded behind me, and the giant silhouette appeared on the city gate in the moonlight, covering the moonlight that had fallen on Dominic, Celeste, and others.
Dominic, Celeste, and everyone looked up in surprise at this most robust Flying Corpse King. It seemed they had not seen Flying Corpse King during their long interaction with the Flying Corpse Monsters.
In the moonlight, Flying Corpse King's crown sparkled, as if he were the ruler of this world, the king of this world.
"This is Flying Corpse King," I introduced. "He's here to find Second sister."
Dominic, Celeste, and the others were still amazed by the enormous presence of Flying Corpse King.
"Uh... Ah," Dominic finally came back to his senses after a while.
