Chapter 30 - Reaper was angry

Nyx froze right after his confession but Skye was too excited and emotional to notice it as he hugged her like she was his lifeline. "Thank you so much," he continued thanking her.

Nyx took some time to regain herself and then hugged back but she couldn't say anything. Didn't know if it was right to tell him she loved him too when she was not certain of what she felt for him.

"It… it's fine, it was the least I could do," these were the only words she found appropriate for the moment. Staying silent was not right and she also couldn't lie to him by telling him what he would like to hear. "I am just sorry she was taken from you for so long."

Skye only hummed. He was not Iverson it just yet and wished to hold her like or at least find a better way to express his feelings g and gratitude but he could not think of any possible way. He had money but Nyx didn't need that. So what could he give to her or do for her?

"Do you mind if I treat you to dinner later?" He pulled away and asked. His hands held her arms and his eyes held an expectant expression on them. Nyx stared into those eyes and could find it in her to reject him. He was nice and very sincere and besides, there was nothing wrong with having dinner with her husband now was there?

"Okay. I will get ready then," uttered and she beamed, kissed her forehead, and climbed up the stairs. This was the happiest that Nyx had ever seen him and it was quite pleasing to her eyes. If only things weren't so messy, would she have been happy living with him? She wondered.

"The dinner will be ready in a few minutes, madam, may I know who else will be present for dinner?" The humbled and faithful housekeeper asked. Her eyes were down on the floor as always.

"Em… well, that would be your young Miss. Skye's little sister," she revealed and the woman looked like she didn't hear her correctly.

"Pardon…?" She asked innocently in disbelief.

"You heard me right. She will be here for dinner. You know what to do right?" Nyx asked.

The woman remained standing there in a daze. It had been so long since the young lady disappeared but now, she was suddenly back and she would have dinner with them.

"Miss Isabelle," she called the name in a whisper with a hand over her mouth. As if remembering something, she bowed to Nyx and hurried to the kitchen. She now understood the Master's behavior from earlier. Perhaps Nyx had something to do with the young lady's return.

Nyx watched her go and smiled. Everyone here must have missed the girl but didn't know what happened to her. "Isabelle, huh?" She repeated the name that she heard. What surprised her was that no one spoke about it. Were they forbidden to speak of her? She assumed she must be right. Housemaids tend to be very talkative and quiet gossipy when they lack work to do or even while working. One or more of them should have at least mentioned that name and the topic of her disappearance but no one did. "I should go get dressed before it is too late."

With that said, she headed for her room. The moment she opened the door, she felt the familiar dark yet warm presence that she had grown accustomed to and loved. She scanned the room searching for him.

He was seated on a single guest sofa placed with his legs crossed. His striking and unmistakable gild eyes shone in the dark room proving that it was him. Other devils may have similar eye color, but none was the same. The feeling that she gets when he looks at her, only he could make her feel that way.

"Reaper," she approached him without turning on the light in the room. Although something felt off about his aura today, she knew he wouldn't hurt her. She saw him stand and walk toward the window with his hands behind him. His figure from behind looked so lonely that her heart ached just seeing him like that. But what was worse was that it seemed he was avoiding looking at her.

Usually, he would walk towards her and not turn his back on her.

"Did I do something to upset you?" She asked as she stopped approaching him. If he didn't want to see her, then she would not force him to.

"Not at all," his reply was short. It was as though he had no reason to be there but he was just there.

"Then…?" She took a few steps forward while watching his reaction. "You are here but you won't even look at me nor would you speak to me, what is wrong?" She stopped and turned around to find a place to sit down. She had stood long enough today.

"That is not it," he turned around and walked over to her. Picked her up and walked to the bed before letting her down lying on her back. He placed his hands on either side of her while she wound her hand around his neck. "I will be gone for a while…." He stopped and sniffed her scent. "Hades, was he around you?" His eyes flickered and for a moment, the air in the room dropped. Nyx didn't need to answer as he already knew it.

"I was in Skye's room, and so was he," Nyx replied. She didn't want to lie to him about it when it was obvious he knew already. "He is the one hurting Skye. He even abducted his sister," as she spoke, things were not getting any better. "I asked that he give her back and he did."

Reaper held her hand and loosened her grip from his neck. He stood up but she quickly held his arm refusing to let go. In the end, he sat on the edge of the bed and while she hugged him from behind. Holding him as tightly as she could so that he wouldn't just get up and leave and disappear on her like always.

"What was his demand?" Realer asked.

The way he sounded, Nyx knew without a doubt that he was angry.
