Chapter 49 - Chapter 11 Xiaowu, So You Really Are a Rabbit (Part 1)_1

Xiaowu glared at Tang San, and every time she thought about the miserable state she was in when she was hit by the stone last time, she could hardly contain her fury, "What's there to wait for? Who knows when you would have returned. They have already come to bully us. That bastard, Boss Xiao, said he wanted me to be his pet rabbit. If I could tolerate that, then I wouldn't deserve to be called Xiaowu."

Tang San frowned slightly, thinking to himself that kids of this age should not be having such dirty thoughts. It seemed that it was really time to teach them a lesson, to let them know that work-study students shouldn't be taken lightly.

With that in mind, he slid his finger across his waist and turned his gaze towards the battlefield.

At this moment, Wang Sheng's body was already covered in bruises. With continuous roars of a tiger, his soul power was getting weaker and weaker, while his opponent hadn't been hit at all, toying with him like a cat with a mouse.

Wang Sheng's mode of attack was still too monotonic. Seizing the opportunity before his soul power was completely drained, he launched one last offensive. Taking a couple of steps to build momentum, he pounced at Liu Long once again, this time determined to leave his mark on his opponent, no matter how miserable he might end up.

Liu Long had been dealing with Wang Sheng not for just a day or two and could easily see through his intent. As Wang Sheng lunged toward him, Liu Long's expression grew stern. He swung his long staff, striking three times in rapid succession towards Wang Sheng's head and shoulders, hoping to fend off this last-ditch effort from Wang Sheng and prevent any further substantial attacks.

But just at that moment, Liu Long suddenly felt as if his hands holding the staff were stung by a mosquito, and his attacks momentarily slowed down.

His attacks had been carefully calculated, and with this sudden delay, flaws immediately appeared. Although the first strike did hit Wang Sheng's head, Wang Sheng pushed through it and lunged forward, causing the following two strikes to miss their mark.

For a Tool Soul Master wielding a long weapon, having a Beast Soul Master with a close-range fighting style is an absolute nightmare. Even though Liu Long was a bit stronger than Wang Sheng, the outcome was still the same.

With a thud, Wang Sheng's tiger claw strike hit Liu Long on the head, sending him flying. Then, with a swift motion, his right leg followed with a heavy swipe of the tiger's tail whip, smashing Liu Long's back and sending him crashing to the ground.

Liu Long did not have Wang Sheng's resilience to taking blows; most of his soul power was focused on his long staff, so his personal defensive power was not remarkable. With Wang Sheng's two committed strikes, Liu Long hit the ground hard and was immediately knocked unconscious.

Wang Sheng roared in triumph, as if venting all the resentment that had built up over the years.

Boss Xiao had been relaxingly watching Liu Long toy with Wang Sheng, utterly surprised when the situation on the field suddenly reversed.

After all, in terms of strength, Liu Long ranked within the top three of his subordinates. If it weren't for the fact that Boss Xiao had already obtained his first soul ring, he couldn't be sure that he could beat Liu Long.

Xiaowu mocked, "A wilting willow, indeed. Couldn't take a single blow. Boss Xiao, what do you have to say now?"

Boss Xiao waved his hand, signaling his minions to take Liu Long away for urgent treatment. They were just students from the Primary Soul Master Academy, where the soul power they possessed couldn't result in a fatality.

"We lost the first match. Ling Feng, you're up."

The second person Boss Xiao sent out was a thin, older student with small eyes and a small nose, and his slender figure didn't look a bit like that of a twelve-year-old's. He seemed closer in age to Xiaowu and Tang San.

"Call back Wang Sheng. I'll take over," Tang San whispered to Xiaowu.

Xiaowu's perception was also quite sharp; she could clearly see that the second contestant, who excelled in agility, was a perfect counter for Wang Sheng. After expending too much soul power previously, Wang Sheng was undoubtedly doomed to lose.

"Wang Sheng, come back. This round's on Xiaosan. You can rest now."

Wang Sheng had yet to fully recover from his elation at defeating Liu Long when he heard Xiaowu's voice and realized that Tang San had returned at some point. He knew his own condition; despite beating Liu Long, he had no strength left for another fight. How could he have known that it was Tang San who had quietly flicked three small stones, restraining Liu Long's assault, and made his previous victory possible.

"You're a work-study student?" Ling Feng asked, looking at Tang San with a skeptical look in his eyes.

Tang San just nodded, "Please begin."

Despite his small stature, Ling Feng stood taller than the first-year student, Tang San. This duel was crucial in determining who would become the boss among the students, so he stopped overthinking and, glancing at Tang San's waistband, leaped into the air. With an agile flip, he spread his arms open and actually glided for two meters, swooping towards Tang San's head.

Beast Soul, Tang San spotted at once what his opponent's martial soul was. The teachings of Grandmaster in the past few days were not in vain. The student named Ling Feng was an agile Battle Soul Master. His beast soul must be that of a flying creature. Judging by his unimposing appearance and style of attack, he couldn't be an eagle. Thus, his martial soul must belong to the likes of a swallow or a crow.

As his opponent swooped toward him, Tang San remained unmoved, as if the opponent didn't exist at all.

Known for being the fastest among the sixth-year students, Ling Feng was lauded for his speed. As a close ally of Boss Xiao, he was also very dexterous. As he was about to reach Tang San, he suddenly flipped again, changing direction with a flap of his arms and landed behind Tang San, swinging at both sides of Tang San's neck.

Not until Ling Feng flipped over his head did Tang San move. Facing an unknown ability, the best choice was to remain unchanged and respond to every change.
