Chapter 15 - Joyous Revelry: A Feast to Remember

The dawn of a new era painted the sky in hues of promise as Kuro, accompanied by his councils, convened an audience in the heart of the newly established kingdom. Hopeful and eager, the citizens gathered in the arena, their eyes reflecting the anticipation of change.

As Kuroi surveyed the assembled citizens, a mixture of pride and humility surged within him. He understood that the kingdom was not just built with bricks, but with the unwavering spirit of its people. The weight of leadership settled upon his shoulders, each word he spoke shaping the destiny of the newborn realm.

Standing tall on a makeshift platform, Kuroi addressed the multitude. "My fellow citizens, as we stand on the threshold of a new beginning, I share with you the vision of a flourishing kingdom. Today marks the beginning of our journey to build a country that will stand as a testament to our unity and strength. A place that rivals heaven in peace and prosperity."

Excitement rippled through the crowd as Kuroi outlined ambitious plans for the kingdom's development. "Our first goal is to ensure food, shelter, and clothing for every citizen. Only then can we embark on further development. I dream of a day when we surpass other kingdoms in civilization and progress," he proclaimed, igniting cheers and applause.

However, Kuroi understood that rapid development required skilled labor. To ensure this, he devised a plan. "Tomorrow, we will assess skills. Those confident in their abilities may participate. Those deemed fit will join the workforce, rewarded handsomely for their dedication to the Great Tomb of Voidhearts. Those who prove themselves worthy will be granted a title, marking them as symbols of honor and distinction," he declared, his voice resonating with authority. "This title will elevate your status and grant you privileges beyond measure. Are you prepared to seize this opportunity and leave your mark on history?" he challenged, before urging the rest to continue their regular tasks, ensuring the kingdom's continuity.

The citizens looked to Kuroi with reverence, inspired by his words. Kuroi then announced, "But for today, let us celebrate the foundation of our new kingdom with a grand feast. All who call this land home are invited." Joyful shouts filled the air as tears of hope welled in many eyes, a dream now real since Kuroi's arrival.

Many citizens enthusiastically participated in the preparations for the evening feast. Men ventured into the surrounding woods to gather firewood, their sturdy axes echoing through the trees. Accompanying them, a group of women carefully plucked herbs and gathered condiments, their laughter mingling with the rustle of leaves.

Meanwhile, children frolicked in the castle grounds, their joyful shouts filling the air as they played games of tag and hide-and-seek. Nearby, the elderly sat in quiet contemplation, their watchful eyes ensuring the safety of the young ones.

Amidst the bustling activity, some braved the wilderness in search of unintelligent monsters for the dinner, their determination evident in each carefully aimed arrow or swing of their swords. Others, focused and disciplined, engaged in rigorous training for the impending valuation tests, their muscles straining with exertion as they honed their skills.

In contrast, some took on the responsibility of guarding the palace and its surroundings, their vigilant eyes scanning the horizon for any signs of danger. Yet, amidst these tasks, some indulged in playful antics, their laughter ringing out as they shared jokes and stories, momentarily escaping the weight of their duties.

As dusk settled and the sky turned orange, a massive bonfire blazed in the castle grounds, marking the commencement of the festivities. Throughout the night, laughter, music, and the aroma of delicious food filled the air.

After some time, they all gathered around Kuroi and his council, who were the only ones provided with a table and benches to sit and have their dinner. An old man stepped forward and said, "It's been several centuries since the fall of the previous king. Families and other creatures were brutally murdered, leaving behind widows and orphans. The slaughterers laughed as they killed our folks one by one, treating it like a mere game," his voice choked with emotion. "After the massacre, we lost all hope and lived in disparity. The fear of their return was engraved in our souls so deep that we forgot to smile. Even the Gods, who were supposed to protect everyone, did nothing and supported those selfish bastards who killed so many innocents to satisfy their greed."

The old man then fell to his knees, forming a fist with his right hand and placing it on his left chest. He continued, "After your arrival, the hope of a better life rekindled in our hearts. The people of this area have once again been blessed with a benevolent ruler and began smiling. We pledge our loyalty to Your Highness, the ultimate one. For us, you are our deity from now on."

Everyone else, including the councils, copied the posture of the old man and announced in unison, "We pledge our loyalty to the ultimate one."

Kokugen wore a cold smile and said, "Raise your head and be of good use to me and the Tomb of Voidhearts."

Kuroi covered the left half of his face with his left palm, his eye bright red, peeking from between his fingers, sporting an evil smile. In his mind, he rejoiced the praise, enjoying the thought of his future conquests. "It feels good to receive such admiration. One day, I will conquer all and bend everything to my will. I will rule over all who submit to me and destroy any who dare challenge or oppose me. I desire it all for myself. I will become the absolute power that governs everything in the universe." His laughter echoed devilishly once more.

Even Salazar, who resided inside his mind, was horrified by his thoughts. She was so frightened by his evil schemes that she decided never to dare double-cross him and vowed to stay loyal till the very end.
