3 hours before the match
After the situation with Nork, Mason went to Chad and Nirvana for some advice before the match started, he told them that he wasn't able to use Mana since his Mana Pool was at 0. Chad asked Mason and his Valkyrie to sit down for a bit while they finished their food.
"My student, I can see how this is troubling you but fear not I shall help you overcome this problem, for that is the way of the sensei." said Chad.
Nirvana sighed and looked at Chad. "You are having way too much fun with this training stuff." she continued to eat and watched them talk.
"Ehem so dude, that means you guys can't use your skills and abilities then, this is gonna be a hard fight to win. So what was this other guy like?"
"He didn't look that strong, was kind of cocky and"
Chad interrupted Mason. "Nah dude, I mean was he a royal or not?"
"I think he did say something about being royal so yeah."
"Shit this is gonna be a rough one."
"Is being royal a big deal?"
"Yeah, if you are of royal blood, your Mana Pool is much bigger than a normal guy's, Valkyrie tend to flock towards those type of men, they have status, money, power and lots of Mana. I guess he was cocky because he had a lot of it and you have none."
Chad ate his fries while thinking of a plan, then he thought of something. "Have you tried Mana Potions?"
"No. I don't have any."
"Even if you don't have any Mana, you should be able to use them, here you go." Chad takes out 3 Mana Potions and gives them to Mason. "All you need to do is crush one in your hand during a fight, then while you focus with your mind select a Valkyrie you want to absorb that Mana. Then she would be able to use her skills and abilities. Unfortunately for you, grinding lots of money is the only way to get them, they are a bit pricey but with lots of experience, you should be able to buy lots of them at higher levels. Take these 3 as a gift to you from sensei to student, you can thank me later by buying me a one of those BonBon Chocolate Deluxe Boxes from that Student Cafe only girls and dweebs enter."
Nirvana rolls her eyes.
"Thank you sensei! I will make sure to use them at the right time! As your student I won't let you down! said Mason.
"Aw man, you really are gonna make a grown man cry."
"Since you are a student as well, how are you able to afford this?"
"It is a long story, don't worry about it."
"Gotcha."
Cheshire sneaks around the table and eats Chad's fries, then she notices he has a burrito, she cuts half of it and eats one of the halves. After she is satisfied, she sneaks back to her seat and sits down, having high points into sneak has its upsides. Nirvana saw it happen but she decided to not say anything.
"Once we are finished eating, we are gonna go watch your match, don't worry we are gonna cheer you guys on, I am also bringing Fat Tony and Pennyless over to watch the fight." said Chad
"Thanks guys, see you there then!" said Mason.
"See you there future champ!" said Chad as he was grabbing his burrito, he noticed half of it was gone and most of his fries disappeared from his tray of food. "Hey who ate my burrito!"
Mason and his Valkyrie head over to the Lunar Assembly Hall for the match, once he enters the room he see's Nork and other people like staff members, Valkyrie and a few Commanders here to watch the fight. As an introvert it made Mason feel a bit uncomfortable, he sucked up his fear and pushed forward, he had to win this fight for Camellia and the girls. If he loses this match, then he believes it just means he wasn't worthy of having her as his Valkyrie.
Everyone in the room is standing on the sides near each of the walls, the hall begins to rumble and the center of the room opens up. An outdoor looking arena emerges from the ground, there are trees, grass and even a pond. The Announcer signals Mason and Nork to take one side each. Chad, Nirvana, Tony, Penny make it in time to watch the start of the match. Even Mash and his Valkyrie show up to watch, Kai is sitting in the back, when Mason notices him, he nods to him trying to tell him good luck.
1 hour before the match
Mason was silent for about an hour, he was looking through their skills, passive abilities, classes and stats he wanted to make sure he was prepared and understood each of his Valkyries strengths and weaknesses. The girls understood he was trying to figure out a plan— so they stayed quiet while he was lost in thought.
Mihara, Kitsune race, Support Type, Shrine Maiden Class, her Guidance skill isn't useful in a battle, more for traveling, her race passive ability is Benevolence she can cancel out one skill that causes damage, enemy or ally, it can only be used once every week. That can be really helpful in a fight against other Commanders. Mason wonders if that can used against a Commanders Crest Ability as well, he may need to test it one day.
Camellia, Succubus race, Damage Type, Berserker Class Inner Demon skill increases her damage and speed for a short amount of time, it lasts longer and it is stronger the more she levels up and ranks up— since she is just a lv.1 it wouldn't be that strong and it wouldn't last very long in a fight. Lovers Embrace is really interesting it can make men attracted to her, at level 10 it attracts girls, at lv 20 she can mind control a male or female for 1 minute, at level 30 she can control up to 3 people for 1 min. She is only level 1 right now so it wouldn't do much in this fight.
Cheshire, Neko race, Damage Type, Assassin Class, her Stalker skill makes it easier to track an enemy and no skill or spell can stop its effects. Catnap is her race ability, she is able to sleep for a short amount of time and it will heal her, the longer she sleeps the more HP she gains back.
Mason understands what to do now.
"I got a plan— I just need you girls to trust me." said Mason.
"Of course!" said Mihara.
"Always." said Camellia.
"We trust Meowster!" said Cheshire.
"So this is what we are gonna do..."
The match begins
"Welcome to the Official Lunar Academy Battle! This will be a 2 on 2 battle! On this side we have Commander Nork Turner and his Valkyrie Nina Steel and Ana Caster! On this other side we have Commander Mason and his Valkyrie Mihara Blomma and Cheshire Nightshade! Allow me to explain the rules, both Commanders can use items, their crest abilities and equipment such as armor and weapons. The only two ways to ensure a victory is to knock out both Valkyrie or the Commander surrenders. Is everyone ready?" said the Announcer.
The crowd was cheering like crazy, more people were gathering to watch the match, even Goddess Luna decided to walk in and sit down to watch them battle. People were surprised to see her here, she was never interested in watching rookie matches but she is here now.
A girl said "No way the Goddess is here! Then that must mean this Nork guy is some kind of royal bigshot or something!"
A guy said "Yeah Nork must be pretty impressive for her to show up like this!"
The crowd started chanting. "Nork! Nork! Nork!"
Nork started laughing and taunting Mason. "You hear that peasant? The crowd love me! Even the Goddess is here to watch me kick your ass! You should have given me that Succubus when you had the chance, now I am gonna take her and embarrass you, right in front of everyone!"
"Now let's get ready to rumble!" said the Announcer.
"3!" said the crowd.
Mason took a deep breath, he was trying to calm his nerves, he doesn't do well in front of crowds. Nork was laughing the entire time.
"2!"
It looks like Mihara and Cheshire were ready to take them down, so Mason had to be ready as well. Nork was yelling at his Valkyrie to destroy Mason's Valkyrie and not show them any mercy.
"1!"
Mason was now focused, ignoring the people and just looking directly in front of him, the battle is all he saw, he pretended no one else was here. Nork was very confident, he didn't think this fight was gonna be hard, to him it was gonna be a piece of cake.
"Begin!" said the Announcer.
