Chapter 12 - The Chromatic Sphere

As footsteps echoed through the hall, the Elevens arrived, their presence whispered among the group. Xavier, feeling a mix of confusion and curiosity, turned to them.

"Who are the Elevens, Alad?" Xavier inquired.

Alad, taken aback, responded, "Have you been living under a rock? The Elevens are the Council of the Eleven Realms, the ultimate authority here at THE ACADEMY. Comprised of eleven races who came together to establish this institution, they hold the highest power."

"The Eleven races include Vampires, Fae, Dwarves, Elves, Shroks, Humans, Aarils, Phoenixes, Krakens, Gnomes, and Skoshas. While there are other races present, these Eleven have formed peace treaties among themselves, unlike the others whose details remain unknown to me."

He looked at Xavier and pouted, "My mum taught me a lot before she was killed by the Dokkens, the Dark Elves."

"Sorry about your mum, but don't let that stop you from achieving greatness," Xavier smiled, rubbing the little kid's head.

Xavier was intrigued by the little kid and saw potential in him to help him navigate this world. However, he couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. Who were his former host parents?

'Chainy, why don't I have any memories of my former host parents? Are they people I don't know? And who are the Dokkens? I've never heard of them before.'

[As I mentioned earlier, some memories are inaccessible. Keep leveling up and you may eventually uncover the answer you seek.]

Chainy responded to him.

[If you're interested in learning about the Dokkens, consider enrolling in the academy where you can access a wealth of information.] It continued.

'Hmm, if you say so,' Xavier replied.

.

.

"Ready or not, the test has started," Iorin said with a cold tone.

The floor started to shake, resembling an earthquake, and a crack formed in a straight line across The Arcane Trials Chamber. In the center, a round orb, approximately the size of a human fist and made from a mysterious material found only in the deepest caverns of the Astral Nexus, began to emerge. Its surface shimmered with iridescent hues, indicating the magical energies contained within.

Everyone watched in awe, as they heard much about this orb known as The Chromatic Sphere. It had existed for millennia without being broken and still exuded a cold, chilling aura.

Legend has it that the Chromatic Sphere was created by the Celestial Artificer, infused with starlight and the essence of the Astral Nexus. It is believed to contain the secrets of creation and cosmic wisdom.

The Chromatic Sphere is utilized to determine an individual's power and grade within the Astral Nexus system.

Magic powers in the Astral Nexus are categorized into six grades: C, B, A, S, SS, and SSS. These grades are used to assess an individual's innate talent and the level of control they have over their magic power.

Grade C is assigned to species with limited proficiency in magic, often leading to unintended consequences due to their inability to properly control their power. This grade is considered the lowest, indicating below-average power, and typically involves the use of only one skill due to a low soul core.

Grade B: Slightly below Grade A, indicating something of decent quality but not exceptional. In terms of power, it's above Grade F but below Grade A. Species with limited mastery of magic power struggle to wield it effectively and face challenges in its usage. They may possess growth potential but require further training and experience to unlock their full capabilities. With this grade, species can possess one to three skills.

Grade A: Species with moderate proficiency in magic power, showing competency in its usage but lacking the finesse of higher-grade characters. They can perform basic spells, manipulate minor elements, and contribute effectively to magical endeavors. In terms of power, it would be above average and quite competent. With this grade, species possess two to four skills.

Grade S: Species with above-average mastery of magic power, displaying strong control and proficiency in its utilization. They are capable of casting intermediate-level spells, manipulating basic elements, and showcasing versatility in their magical abilities. This grade typically signifies exceptional quality and power, often exceeding Grade A. It is usually rare or challenging to acquire. Species with this grade possess three to six skills.

Grade SS: This grade surpasses Grade S, representing something exceptionally potent or scarce. Species with advanced expertise in magic power exhibit outstanding control and comprehension of its principles. They can cast potent spells, manipulate elements, and execute magical feats that leave others in awe. Species with this grade possess four to seven skills.

Grade SSS: The highest grade, symbolizing the peak of power or rarity. Items or Species of this grade are exceptionally rare and have unparalleled abilities.

Species with complete control over magical power can harness it to its maximum capacity. They can cast intricate spells, alter reality, and impact the world on a large scale.

A creepy smile appeared on Iorin's face as it was time for his plans to be carried out. Just then, a large scroll appeared on the surface. The candidates could see their names written on it along with their numbers.

"Hey, Xavier, I guess it's time. I'm a bit scared," Alad said, holding Xavier's hands.

"I would be lying if I said I'm not scared, Alad. So, beat up that fear and face this test," he replied, patting Alad's head.

"Little one, let's pass this test, and then we can get to know each other, shall we?" Xavier continued, with Alad nodding in agreement.

A large floating scroll appears with names on it, and Xavier discovers that his name is at number 50, while his friend's name is at number 48.

Iorin's voice then echoes, "Your names are displayed on the scroll above."

They all acknowledge this.

"Excellent. The first person on the list is Emma. Please step forward and approach the Chromatic sphere. Remember to breathe, touch it with your right palm, and wait for further instructions," he instructs.

He adds, "This applies to everyone in this hall." They all nod in agreement.

Just then, he gestured to Emma to move towards the Chromatic sphere, which she did hesitantly. Beads of sweat formed on her forehead with each shaky step she took. The importance of the first test weighed heavily on her mind.

Impatience filled the air as everyone waited for her to reach the Chromatic sphere.
