Ayla wondered what could have happened to make Hayden suddenly behave in that manner.
"Are you okay?" Ayla's hands flew to his back, and she patted him. She wasn't sure what was happening , but she at least had to comfort him, right?
"I'm okay, I just missed you." Hayden said with a smile. He didn't want to make her sad by sharing what he had just found out earlier. He didn't want her to relive in the pain. And, until he met with that family, he couldn't allow Ayla to catch wind of the news.
Ayla chuckled when she heard his reason. He almost gave her a heart attack earlier. She thought something bad really happened to him while he was out.
"Have you eaten yet?" After disengaging from the hug, Ayla walked to the table and brought two packed lunch boxes. They contained the warm food she had ordered earlier.
