Melody didn't like her brother-in-law's answer. She wanted Penelope to be aware of what kind of person she married. She didn't want her elder sister to get heartbroken again because of Raven Hendrix. Raven wasn't completely honest with Penelope; Melody felt this could lead to a disastrous end.
"Please reconsider your decision, Mr. Hendrix," Melody said, meeting his gaze this time. "I know my sister very well, and if you continue to thread on this path, she will come to hate you for deceiving her."
Raven's expression hardened. His secret wasn't something he could easily confess to his wife. He feared Penelope would leave him because of it.
"I appreciate your concern, Melody, but I assure you, I have Penelope's best interests at heart," Raven replied coolly. "What you see as deception is merely a matter of discretion. There are better left unsaid things, for both our sakes."
